Ok I’ll try another way. When he took over he spoke of a 5yr plan to get the club competitive again, and whilst there was one bump in the road (Gerrard) he achieved exactly what he said he would. The apparent lack of involvement in bring in Emery and the more recent interview with Beth Rigby. The latter sounded like a retrospective of his time at Villa at times so I'd kinda presumed he'd be away at some point. Not saying I was predicting it, as I thought his shareholding might be a complication (although NSWE would easily be able to afford to buy him out). A net positive during his time here. There aren't many people who do that kind of job without a few mistakes but where we were five years ago compared to now is definitely in part due to him. Philosopher Posted June 12, 2023 Share Posted June 12, 2023 Purslow has done a solid job. The Gerrard appointment showed he should be kept away from footballing decisions however. For me Purslow is a savvy operator, very slick (almost slimey), and very astute, on the business and strategy side. However it's clear we are pursuing a different model. Heck will run the commercial side. A sporting director to run the football business side. Then a director of football to oversee the scouting and player recruitment.
