I reckon Henry would be a disaster

He might well be a disaster, he could be a huge success. Nobody knows as we have nothing previous to base an opinion on. That’s why I think it’s a bad move, I just don’t think we’re in a position to be gambling on an ex player taking his first job in management.

If we do ending up hiring a new manager, I'd like to the throw my hat in the ring.

In my latest FM save, I have got Villa into the Europa league in my 4th season and along the way I've made the club over 40 million buying and selling players!

I'm not paying my own air fares if they want an interview though.

You get my vote. Every bit as likely to be a top manager as Thierry Henry.

Aston Villa EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal legend Thierry Henry agrees to become new manager

THIERRY HENRY has agreed to become Aston Villa’s new manager.

Thierry Henry could be about to replace Steve Bruce as Aston Villa boss

The Arsenal and France legend is ready to lead Villa’s charge back into the Premier League - once he’s had reassurances from the Championship club’s mega-wealthy new owners.

Steve Bruce remains in charge at Villa Park. But new majority shareholders Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are unconvinced if he is the right man to take the Villans back to the Premier League.

And they have already turned to Henry, who announced after the World Cup he wants to be a full-time manager

The 40-year-old was Roberto Martinez’s assistant as Belgium reached the semi-finals in Russia but now wants to go it alone as a boss.

Another Midlands club in the Championship, Derby, have already moved to appoint another unproved former top Premier League star as their new manager, with Frank Lampard taking charge.

A source who close to the takeover negotiations told Starsport last night Henry had “verbally agreed” to be Villa’s new boss.

But their remains much still to do, including axing Bruce and agreeing a salary package and transfer budget with Henry.

Steve Bruce led Aston Villa to the Championship play-off final last season

They must also explain how Villa can move forward within the confines of Financial Fair Play.

Sawiris - a member of Egypt’s richest family - and American tycoon Edens - a co-owner of American basketball team the Milwaukee Bucks - look ready to invest big in Villa.

They see the club as having enormous potential and while the club is currently valued at £80m a return to the Premier League could see that rocket to £400m.

Sawiris and Edens have each bought a 27.5 per cent stake in Villa, meaning between them they have a controlling stake. To buy those shares, the pair paid Chinese businessman Tony Xia £30m.

So no quotes just a "source" sounds like waffle to me

Hopefully the fans suffering with Stockholm syndrome can come around to supporting Henry and giving him every chance as manager. He certainly has good potential.

It’s scary but like you I think the potential could be incredible

Unless the new owners have a very creative way of getting around ffp this season will be about rebuilding.

Under no circumstances should Bruce be the man to handle this.

If we do have money to spend then no way should Bruce be the one who does it for us.

A new manager is a given no matter what the circumstances are.

Yeah it's close to the season, but the rebuild would not be done in time for the new season regardless. It's a season long process, or probably much longer than that.

As for Henry, no idea. No one has since it would be his first managerial job. He has certain things about him that makes him interesting and if he is willing to come here I assume the new leadership has presented him with an interesting project.
