Arsenal look like they are in big trouble.

Weak squad, over paying on players, unhappy players speaking publicly, poor form, bottom of the league, rookie manager.

What a mess. They’ll probably sack Arteta after the next next loss and leave the new manager several months away from a transfer window.

They will come about 8th and get another manager and spent more tens of millions.

They are incapable of doing anything worse given their income levels and support base, even if they are comically badly run.

They’ll certainly improve and get out of trouble. Looking at their squad though it’s hard to see how they are going to get it together enough to be top half, but time will tell. Should make for an interesting season.

How are players still unvaccinated? I thought they were first in line in what was a high risk profession while the rest of the country was on strict lockdown.

The are choosing not to because the conspiracy theories around what’s in the vaccine and how quickly it got approved.  They are worried what they are putting in their bodies because they are elite professional sportspeople and can’t risk it.  I’ve read loads of American sports people reasons and it’s crazy their reasons and it seems some of that is over here…

If anything being at a top club with all that medical information available then they should really have the best resources to know

I agree but also some of the biggest wackos from the beginning of Covid have access to the best medical and scientific advice but don’t always follow it including the former US President, with all his wacko comments on treatment before the vaccine came out.  Wealth and access doesn’t always lead to common sense.

Young men with little formal education, they're very much within one of the main non-vaxxed demographics.

I don’t know. I don’t know any from the big leagues in Europe

How many have contracted Covid and will have Long Covid in some form whether now or in the future? Unknown because we don’t know enough of the long term effects.  You only have to google professional athletes who are suffering long covid now badly and some are big famous.

How many have contracted Covid and passed it onto others who have suffered and some of them may have died or they passed onto people who have then suffered and died? Unknown

Going to red list countries increases risk of exposure to that person, then everybody who comes into contact with that person and then those people.  The compound spread from one person is incredible in a short transmission cycle.

It’s not just the individual footballer but the people they come into contact with.  It’s not just about people dying, which is bad enough but the impact and continuation of the virus ongoing effects.  It’s also the people at the red listed country games… I could go on and on…

a quick search on google you can see over and over, pages upon pages of athletes and people around sports globally dying or impacted by Covid.  I’m sure there are thousands of other stories.

Been a bit of a perfect storm for them.

1st game against a Brentford side never played in the Prem before. Coupled with Laca and Auba out with covid. That would be like us missing Ings and Watkins.

2nd and 3rd game against The Champions of Europe and the Champions of England.

Let's judge Arteta against Norwich and Burnley see what he do.

So.

That Japanese chap any good?

Typical Arsenal signing. Decent player but nowhere near elite. Early 20s so does have potential though.

Quite tall and strong for a fullback, as he matures probably go CB full time eventually.

Win win for arsenal. Replaces Bellerin (which isn't difficult after last season) if he improves to a quality player the commercial department will be lickimg their lips.

All their signings this summer were actually 23 or under on lowish wages (below 100k per week). Significant change in directions from previous transfer windows.

They clearly understood that they can't claw their way back to CL by out spending the likes of ManU and Chelsea on wages any more. Longer term play, helped by the academy delivering top talent recently (Saka, ESR).

Real question is, can they deliver on this strategy? And will the fans have the patience to see it through?

Why do I feel that if Arteta gets sack then Bruce gets sacked from Newcastle that Bruce will end up at Arsenal 🤣

I do not think one high rated Coach or manager will come into Arsenal and go through the headache and mess that is Arsenal, so were looking at Big Sam or Bruce types coming in at Farcenal now.

You'd think the whole of Arsenal squad the way they are playing, it's like no one has turned up against teams 🤣

You give Arteta the benefit of the doubt for losing but not Smith who got a draw despite having far more players out from Watkins not being able to start, no Traore, Bailey, Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Sanson or Mings at all plus the dodgiest referee display that was acknowledged across this forum.

It was their first game at home ever in the PL.

A little different.

We were playing at a packed VP and I expected a better performance and result.

But this thread is about arsenal not Dean Smith so let's not go way off topic here.

No ill judge him against the top 6 as that is his spending and squad power
