There was no one looking to collect the ball off our defence, nor link up play with the forwards. We're crying out for that strong, centre midfielder to stamp his authority on the game as well as a proper playmaker. I would be surprised if RDM didn't already have his targets in mind, and I suspect Ravel Morrison is one of those. Naturally, we've all suggested Jedinak and think he should be attainable if we're in for him too. One thing's for sure if that with the sheer number, and frequency, of games this season, we'll need a variety of options. We'll see another striker coming in to play up front, but it will be interesting to see how we best deploy Ayew, Grealish, Adama, McCormack and who misses out when everyone is fit for selection. Took a lot of positive from that second half performance. You have to remember that the team we saw today will not start the majority of games this season. Despite that in the second half they dominated one of the better teams in this league and they can and will get better. Gollini will learn from his error. The team will gel better. McCormack will get better match fitness. Elphick will motivate the team more as they learn about him. The midflield will improve , Amavi will replace cissokho. We need improving in some areas but for me that second half performance today if we maintain that there are not many teams in that league that will live with us. Midfield for me is the area we need to improve both in terms of defensive midfield and attacking midfield. jedinak alongside tshibola , Morrison in there alongside grealish and traore and I think we will do well this season. 22 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Diame would have been good, can't just have holding midfielders and have them pass the ball to Morrsion expecting him to do everything, there needs to be something in between.
