On the news earlier they interviewed people in Sutton Coldfield asking if they'd vote for Boris again.

One old dear said she would, and when asked why she said she had never ever voted in her life. Boris was the first person she'd ever voted for, and it was because he was just a normal person. "He's just like us" "he's one of us"

I don't understand why anyone would vote for Boris, but this sort of thing is the most ridiculous reason of them all. It is absolute horseshit and I don't understand how anyone could ever think Boris was just like them.

If Boris is just like you then you're a **** word removed

All you have to do is apply the 'think of how stupid the average voter is, and 50% of people are stupider than that' plus social media and this is the PM/government/country/world you get.

Depending how old the 'old dear' was she possibly isn't even on social media. The truth is people don't need social media to make them stupid, we have an array of legacy media outlets that have specialised in that task for decades.

I think people’s opinion of Johnson being fun to go down the pub with would instantly change when they innocently say “Ok Bozza, it’s your round” and they see his genuine reaction of confusion mixed with outrage at such insolence.

Is’nt the term old dear somewhat offensive and ageist ?

People inherently know that there's something wrong with the politics they've been served up over the last forty years, since Thatcher and Reagan, money has moved power and wealth has been concentrated into an increasingly small number of hands, actual salaries have declined, public services have been defunded and deregulated finance has collected the spoils - for most people in our societies, life is worse. That's never reported on, it's never mentioned, it's never the hot topic, but people know, they can feel that their politicians are not working for them, that they're working instead for an increasingly small number of wealthy bankers and corporations, people are done with Thatcherism, people are done with Thatcherism labelled as centrism, they want to change things, so they're drawn to candidates that are different, those that look like they might be maverick enough to make a difference, even if those mavericks are arseholes. There are American polls of people that voted for Trump who have said they knew he was likely to be a complete mess, a government of "me, me, me" but they voted for him anyway, because at least he promised something different.

That's the game, keep ahead of the voters, offer them what they want without actually changing anything; we're losing that game to private wealth.

A few people I know voted for him because he had 'character' and was 'funny'. Fortunately they are starting to come round to the fact he is a lying, duplicitous, arrogant narcissist with the wit and charm of dog shit stuck to your shoe

I was listening to the radio not long ago and they asked the question as to why you love or hate Boris. Several people called in and said that they love the fact that he makes mistakes as it makes him "human".

The bloke has the most important job in the country. He shouldn't be making **** mistakes at the frequency that he does. No wonder this country is completely ****.

So £2bil cut to the BBC and abolishing the licence fee...

Your TV output is about to get shit

Some fools won't realise what they have got until it is got. The BBC is next on that list and if the Tories keep getting their way it'll be followed by the NHS.

For those slow of learning, a dislike of the BBC's impartiality in news and politics is not a dislike of the BBC. Brexit was a way to appease the mental right wing of the Tories and cutting the BBC adrift is to appease others in the media that may give a more favourable view of the Tories or contribute financially.
