sne
So on January 1st Lambert signed a new 5 year contract with Ipswich. with them sitting in 2nd place. And since then they have played 14 games and lost 7 and only picked up 15 points. Dropped down to 10th in the table with their chance of a play off spot dropping away fast. Seems oddly familiar. rjw63
He should have gone after the Bradford debacle. Might not have gone down if he'd been **** off then.
Kuwabatake Sanjuro
In hindsight Wes Hoolahan and to a lesser extent Benteke carried him as a manager. He will end up in League 2 next.

I’m convinced managers do this on purpose. Get Job -> Work hard for 12 months -> big money contract extension when the club are well placed and owner doesn’t want to risk instability -> bring down the house of cards you built and walk away with a huge sum of money. Get new job, start cycle again.

Get new job, start cycle again. A managerial version of players playing for a new contract and then settling in for a couple of years doing f all. We've had a fair few of those over the years.

Nearly all shit apart from the odd game you could say this season as well. Does that mean Smith is a fraud? Lambert had a truly awful team and somehow managed to keep us up for 2 seasons. Lamberts first season we had a run of form after Christmas where Benteke Weimann and Gabby all clicked and we played well. But for me that wasn’t even down to Lambert, you could he was shouting different instructions to the players. Deserves some credit for it sure, but in the main it wasn’t down to him. Second season was an abomination. He tried to bring in this passing football, had spent the summer supposedly watching Dortmund train and was coping them. His passing football meant the ball was passed from Guzan to Clark, then between Clark and Baker for ages until they got bored, ball went back to Guzan who launched it forward. We’d lose the ball and then be under the cosh until it was another goal kick and we’d do it all again. It was mind numbing. There was a period over the Christmas where we went 3 home games in a row with barely a shot on target. I’ve said it before, but I can’t stand the man as a football manager. From loving the sport of football, I went to despise it. I would only watch villa out of loyalty, all other football I had no interest in because of him. We’d then get his press conferences which were even more sour than the performances. He was atrocious. His record at Norwich was good, but literally everywhere else he has been woeful.
Popular Post Xela
I've said it before but Lambert made me hate football. The first season was ok. It went sour after Christmas in season 2. Last 9 games of the season we gave up. Lost 7 of them including 4-1 at home to Stoke, 4-1 at Man Utd, 4-1 at Swansea, 4-0 at Man City and 3-0 at Spurs. Third season was painful. The mind numbingly dull possession football that culminated in zero goals and zero chances. It needed Sherwood to save us!
Zatman
We made Bradford in League 2 look like Barcelona. Was the worst moment in Villa history losing a 2 legged tie to a 4th tier team
