$200 Million Takeover

David Bick and Keith Harris (two football finance and acquisitions experts) have both said that we're still in the early stages of the takeover i.e. looking for buyers. Various journos/papers have reported likewise yet people still cling on the word of ITKs.

The evidence would seem to suggest we're not close by any measure. I don't care what the attention seeking ITKs say.

You don't think they would lie to keep the lid on what's actually going on behind the curtains? You will never hear them say that they have a buyer until the sale is finished.

Edit: Also unless they're directly involved, they won't know squat, and if they are directly involved, I'd expect them to lie through their teeth.

David Bick has no reason to lie. He was commenting independently as a takeover specialist.

Why would they lie? For what reason?

Nevermind, I thought he's involved in the sale but I guess I was wrong.

And since he isn't involved, he knows nothing. How would he know? He can only speculate, like us so I don't put any credence on what he says.

There are lots of different factors in play though and as has already been said, he can't do anymore than put the club up for sale and look for buyers. There's no guarantee finding a buyer would've been easier even if the club had been in a better state.

He's gambled with our premiership status, ran the club on the cheap and set survival as our only ambition. To do that is bad enough but to do that, state you want out and fail to do so leaves this club in a bit of a mess.

As others have said my friend, he's put the club in this position that probably doesn't make it an attractive option. To allow the club to get to this state and then not be able to sell it after telling the world he wants out then I'd find that to be bad.

I'm still amazed people defend him so much even after our worst premiership year.

I don't know why you're being sarcastic and nobody is defending him, so please don't bother with that bollocks. You can't complain your arse off about the man because he is still here, yet continue to complain your arse off because following a statement to say we're up for sale, we haven't been sold in just over a week (as far as we know).

And as I said, if no buyers come forward that isn't really his fault.

Some guy on that other forum posted that Murat Yakin will be our next manager and everyone just believes it. Easy stuff this ITK business.

He would need to get his bleedin hair cut if he going to manage us - looks like a girl !

Don't think any of our last three managers had that problem.

It has been a week. Get a grip man.

BigJohn,

You can't force people to part with their cash. Football club ownership is not a cash cow; it's an exercise in dick swinging, but even that is less possible now due to the previously scoffed at, but actually quite serious, FFP rules.

We're not in Europe (yet), but the PL rules will be applied and closely adhered to now the UEFA rules have gotten over their first hurdle. We are compliant under both sets rules which is a good starting point for any new owner.

We're expected to turn a profit in this financial year. We have the new TV money, and one of the best commercial revenues outside of the top four and the London clubs. Our corporate hospitality revenue is solid with potential for more growth. The club can, as we've seen, pull in bigger crowds, sell more season tickets, and finish higher in the league.

These are all plus points, but if there's no buyer wanting to burn through his hard earned cash, despite how attractive we are, then there's not a lot anyone can do.

What you're overlooking is that the asking price - by all reports - is designed to recoup substantial amounts of the money Lerner has sunk into the club to take us from 16th in the premier league with a poor squad to 15th in the premier league with a poor squad that needs a hell of a lot of further investment if we are even to secure premier league status long term. The hope that the club will "turn to profit" this year (not that even the club have actually claimed that) pales into insignificance alongside the extra money that will be needed to make us any good at football.

so we've established Kwan doesn't know anything either then?

Based on what?
Mate, go and search through my post history for a reasoned and logical explanation as to why.

Seven years experience in the banking industry tells me his claims are total nonsense.

Sorry I've tried to look through your posting history but I haven't found much of an actual breakdown (on my phone so can't see full posts)

I don't think I've seen kwan claim to be itk before which is why I believe there's at least some truth to what he's saying.

As far as I know he's only stated that he's been told that the sale is being handled by someone he knows and hinted at who he was told it was.

but it is definately not far enough along to be close to being announced.

And so he said the apparent announcement must be about something other than the sale.

The rest of what he said was just speculation like the rest of us.

How are so sure that what he's saying isn't what's happening?

Other than the word of those two investment guys

Can any blame be laid at the feet of Lerner for the position were in now?

Nobody disputes that, pretty sure that we all want him gone. People can't complain 1 week after he has publicly announced that we're up for sale, that it hasn't happened yet, or that because he publicly announced that we're up for sale he is somehow an even worse owner.

There is a usefulness to having Lambert stay on for the time being. Hopefully Lerner gives him a decent little kitty to buy one or two decent little players to signal to perspective buyers that the club is not in a complete state of inertia.

I am starting to get really impatient because I always fear the worst in cases like this. Honestly would have hoped some name would have leaked by now that would be credible but nothing has come to the rescue. That we might still be for sale and have had no sniff as of yet concerns me greatly. Not so much that "I want money now" but what it does mean for our club, this transfer window and how next season will go. Same with Lambert`s situation. Can almost feel the troubles and what not we could have next season if it really goes tits up and our situation right now is the same in november. Ugh, i hate this. :bang:
