So it's Lerner's fault if no one wants to buy the club?

Did I say that?

Its his fault the clubs got to this state, which is worse if we can't sell the club.

Erm..

If there's no new owner lined up then the way he's run the club is even worse than originally thought.

Erm.. That's what I just said to mantis.

David Bick and Keith Harris (two football finance and acquisitions experts) have both said that we're still in the early stages of the takeover i.e. looking for buyers. Various journos/papers have reported likewise yet people still cling on the word of ITKs.

The evidence would seem to suggest we're not close by any measure. I don't care what the attention seeking ITKs say.

er, yes?

How?

You said it would be "shocking" to say he wants out and then not have something lined up.

It would, due to the state he's let the club get in.

That's what I thought really. It's his club and he's maybe been trying to sell it for ages. The way he has run the club has made it a fairly unattractive proposition at the price he is reputedly asking IMO

I think the only thing that is 100% is that the media haven't a clue what's happening at the Villa. Not one got what Lerners statement was going to say right. If Lambert does stay I doubt the club will issue a statement to say to that effect. Hopefully the club will keep us informed and if there's isn't any progress Lerner will have to make a decision soon as to how we will progress next season as if he doesn't back the manager he could invariably get us relegated and end up costing himself a fortune. I still think things are further along that we know but only time will tell.

Speculation and ITK stuff is fun, and the whole scenario means Lerner et al have created a rich breeding ground for it.

You just have to stop and think, around 5% of all ITK stuff is anywhere close to the truth, even people close to the club will pass on information that changes. So not sure why everyone is so surprised when stuff doesn't happen.

so we've established Kwan doesn't know anything either then?

Have we?

Edit: Never mind, answered above.

You don't think they would lie to keep the lid on what's actually going on behind the curtains? You will never hear them say that they have a buyer until the sale is finished.

Edit: Also unless they're directly involved, they won't know squat, and if they are directly involved, I'd expect them to lie through their teeth.

Not at all. I don't think anything has changed except your Nursey giving his opinion on the takeover lead time.

Randy sacking Lambert now and paying out the compensation doesn't make sense.

Nursey has hypothesised that the takeover is still quite far off, and Lambert will remain in charge whilst Lerner is in the hot seat.  I doubt there are many people that know the advances of the takeover in all fairness, so this article offers us no real news.

Based on what?

thought he said a buyer was in place....Nursey says there isn't?

Nursey knows nothing about the takeover though, he is just one of Lambert's mates and knows a few things regarding him.

Indeed it is my friend. You said if there is no new owner lined up then it means he has ran the club even worse than you thought.

So, he put the club up for sale - which is what you actually wanted him to do, you don't like him, you want him gone. But now, after he publicly announced that the club is up for sale (I assume to let the fans know), you're pissed off because nobody has bought us yet?

None of us know if a buyer is in the pipeline yet and I too believe it is strange to announce the sale of the club if nothing is seemingly lined up, but it really has no bearing on how well his ownership has been.

There are lots of different factors in play though and as has already been said, he can't do anymore than put the club up for sale and look for buyers. There's no guarantee finding a buyer would've been easier even if the club had been in a better state.

Nursey isn't exactly reliable and even then he said no "firm" buyers.

David Bick has no reason to lie. He was commenting independently as a takeover specialist.

Why would they lie? For what reason?

As others have said my friend, he's put the club in this position that probably doesn't make it an attractive option. To allow the club to get to this state and then not be able to sell it after telling the world he wants out then I'd find that to be bad.

I'm still amazed people defend him so much even after our worst premiership year.
