The problem is it leaves too many big players on big money sitting on the bench, so they try (and fail) to find a system where they can get them all on the pitch. Until a few weeks ago I had never heard of a 4-2-2-2 formation and there’s a very good reason for that. You have a blank squad and are able to field Ronaldo, you put him on the teamsheet and build a team around him. Instead, they’ve bought Ronaldo and shoehorned their already-present squad around him. I’ve said before but Bruno benefited last season from Man Utd attackers (Rashford, Greenwood) running into channels and creating space for him to exploit. As soon as you’re playing Ronaldo, he is the one occupying that central space. So, you need to have proper winger to provide the width and crossing service to utilise having one of the World’s greatest strikers in the middle of the box. Man Utd have no wingers, just a lot of forwards. Ronaldo will continue to score some goals and simultaneously hinder the entire side. It’s wonderful to watch. Kiwivillan
Ronaldo scores like no one else but lazy runner is the main problem. Manure did it to themselves. I'm delighted
villa4europe
i think at times his lack of movement is actually showing a lack of quality on the final ball, there was definitely one last night where luke shaw could have dinked a ball over the top to him, there was one vs newcastle too, he's completely unmarked (obviously because of his lack of movement...) and the pass is over hit and it makes him look static followed by horrible body language making him look like an asshole he's not mobile enough to rescue bad balls but from what i saw his movement, intelligence and awareness means he's still getting in good positions the more i watch him the more i think a good manager and a good team would and could build around him and get 30 goals a season out of him easily

VillaJ100
Great. I hope this carries on so long it causes permanent damage to the club both on and off pitch that will take decades to recover from

I kindly reminded him i've been to Old Trafford more times than him (about 10 times).

I mentioned poor body language in the Brentford match thread and everyone thought it was a hilarious suggestion as only a trained MI5 spy could make such a comment I agree with your point though. 1

Far be it for me to compare the two but it's Micah Richards syndrome rubbing off on everyone. My legs are shot and I'm not up to it so let's blame everyone else and chuck everyone under the bus. Bad team that is.
