Things that piss you off that shouldn't

Watching a program on Channel 5 last night which I think was a repeat called Me and My 10 Kids.

Its hard to break down exactly what pissed me off but its a combination of enabling people with some sort of metal disorder to keep having children, allowing borderline child abuse by clearly having some of the children neglected due to the sheer number of them and also denying the older children a proper childhood by roping them into becoming carers for the younger children and of course the massive burden on the state to pay for all of this. The one woman, a single mom no less, was doing the usual cliché moaning that her ridiculous incoming benefits package wasn't enough and barely fed her children, quite why she thinks she is entitled to any of this money despite not doing a days proper work herself at any point is anyone's guess.

Just a horrible situation all round really.

I agree with you. I heard a radio interview about a channel 4 or 5 fly on the wall programme following single mothers in a part of Liverpool. It included one of the "stars" who has four kids from 3 dads and she was moaning about some viewers judging her when they knew nothing about her story. Ok, fair enough. However, what really got on my norks was the smug producer of this programme bemoaning the criticism the press were giving them and the "feckless" mums. Then i heard what the show was called - "who needs a man when there's fake tan ?".

Classy 🙄

Worse than that are the words removed who do their weekly shop at one of those petrol stations that have a waitrose or Tesco on site whilst I'm waiting for them to move their car out of the way so i can fill up 🤬

Way way way worse than that are people who buy scratchcards at these places,

"I'll have a number 4 and three number sixes. Oh and whats the jackpot on the number nines, they're new ones arent they? Oh and I'll have a lucky dip on the euro millions."

Ffs do your gambling at the bookies or online.

Sorry, but cant stand the scratchcard/lotto thing in petrol stations or small supermarkets like tesco express.

Also, Why do they go through the rigmoral of making them scratch? Or wait a few days for the numbers? Just tell them there and then,

"You have gambled £18 on a combination of scratchcards and lotto tickets, and the computer says that you have won f all. Thanks. See you again. Now i can serve someone who is buying their lunch."

Presumably people dont want to be scratching away at the counter with a 2p?

As a scratch card aficionado I can tell you it's usually because there is a code for the machine that is outside of the play area, the guy behind the till has to key it in but hardly anyone seems to scratch it off for them (and to be fair fair the code is in different places every card)

I will add people doing a weekly shop in a Tesco express and then trying to use the self scan, that's bad enough in the big store

Watched a similar programme called 'Carers'. The older kids (8-10yrs or so) looking after the babies due to the parents having learning difficulties, and not being able to cope. I think there were upwards of 5 kids, can't remember. There were sleeping babies dotted around the ground floor in filth. The parents being interviewed was the most depressing.

Feckless people popping out several kids is no benefit to society, if they choose to have lots of children fine, but it shouldn't be incentivised and supported by the state.

Its true but how do you police that without punishing the kids who aren't at fault for their existence.

I personally would allow up to 3 kids per family and yes if you fall on hard time you will be looked after. Any more than that is just self indulgence and you better have evidence that you can provide for yourself and the kids if you are going to end up having more. Once you get past 5-6 then as I said before there is clearly some sort of disorder there and you really shouldn't be allowed to keep falling pregnant at your own whim.

This is a weird one.

We have ID card door pass thingamajigs for work. Standard stuff, you wear it around your neck on a lanyard.

But security at our place is pretty tight as we have military programs being developed. You can't use your own lanyards for example, visitors have to be escorted everywhere (even our new VP had to be escorted even though he'd worked for the company for 20 years)

Anyway, because of all this security, everybody HAS TO scan their pass when you enter a building. The door won't unlock unless you do that, but even if somebody in front of you unlocks the door, you still HAVE TO scan your pass as you walk in.
On the way out, however, it doesn't apply. There's just a button that unlocks the door, one of them big green "push to unlock" buttons. No hint of anything that would scan anything. It's a button.
If the door's open you can just walk out.

But, seemingly half the office think you have to press the button when you walk out. So you'll have a group of people walking out and they'll all press the button that unlocks the door even though it's open.

It **** me off an irrational amount. Why are you doing that? It's just a button!

I’m intrigued by what would happen if you DO NOT scan as you walk in through an already open door.

Well if nobody saw you then nothing.

But it’s drilled into us that everyone has to scan every time they enter a building/area

so somebody would most likely tell you to go and scan in
