I think in theory it's meant to be that if they didn't have access when they scanned in they wouldn't get the green light so you could tell them they couldn't come in. It's weird. I understand the need for security but it seems a bit overkill. Like I said, the new VP of the company came over. He'd worked for the company (just not our business unit) for 25 years and he had to be escorted round the site at all times because he didn't have security clearance. It's mad. It need not be so heartless over the long run, generally speaking, if you change incentives you change behaviour. Economic policy designed to improve participation among the poor and a greater spreading of wealth and opportunity across the country would certainly help, more job opportunities, more economic participation, less children. Changing the benefit system would go hand in hand, how about a universal basic income or a negative income tax? Again, completely shifts the incentives that currently exist, it would be more empowering and create less dependency as things currently stand. For what it's worth I don't really have an 'issue' with paying for it I just think it's beneficial to remove state dependency (as ethically as possible). At the end of pouring said coffee, there is a 5-10 second delay before the machine says complete. Everyday I watch the same people wait until the machine says complete before they pick up their cup and f*** off. Mate, it's complete, I can see it's complete, I can hear it is complete. There is no more milk or water pouring into the cup. It was complete at this point the last time you made it, and the time before that, and the time before that no doubt. But it's not finished. you can't open the door. It spins another couple of times. Then a minute later it beeps again. But it's still not unlocked.
