Thought he looked ropey most of the night but two brilliant penalty saves when it mattered.

Made himself a hero!

He was lucky Mings sorted out that shot from his weak clearance or we could have been 2 down.

Still made him my MOTM though. 🙂

All hail Jed for the pens. Great performance.

Having said that, the 2nd half distribution was awful, could have cost us 3 goals on a bad day... I think it was a moment of nerves and the back 4 didn't help either!

Wow, so the Steve Bruce obsession has leaked into the Steer thread. 🤣

Matbe he will offer to marry you?

It's mad isn't it?

Steer's been here for 6 seasons and no manager has fancied him, but it's somehow Bruce's fault? :D

Even Dean Smith went out and spent £7 million on a goalkeeper who wasn't Jed Steer... nobody seems to mention that bit though.

Anybody seen this?

Haha

You could almost feel daggers coming out of Steers eyes towards Holgate, he well and truly got in his head.

Steer overall made up for his blunder pass early on, really he was a HERO with those two stops early on.

Best keeper we've had since 2013 Guzan. Crazy that he's been farmed out all these years for inferior players.

Better than Guzan, I'd say since Mark Bosnich.

What Kalanic going to do at this rate, we wasted 7 mill right there it looks like.

He wasn't even the best villa keeper since 2013 on the pitch last night.

I still think Kalinic will be our number 1 next season.

Steer's antics were grobbelaar-esque!

He totally won me over with his "what the **** you doing on the same pitch as me?" stare and his movement.

That albion player absolutley flapped it.

Steer keeps the jersey .....Kalanic should go to charlton on loan.

Almost forgot about Johnstone, mostly because he wasn't our player.

I'd say they're about equal though. Steer makes up for his lack of height/penalty box command with his distribution and vice versa for Johnstone.

Also I don't recall Johnstone saving a penalty for us but I count 3 this season for Jed. Looking it up, he hasn't but impressively saved 5 penalties this season.

My thoughts too, I think Neil Cutler is an excellent coach and they will work on the weak parts of his game.

He has the size advantage over Jed, so can be more commanding.

That being said, Jed defo deserves a new contract IMO.

Best backup we could ever hope for.

Probably not.  He gets all the credit for making those two penalty saves but I don't think he had a good match. Seemed a bit shaky to me.
