Was more mentioning the elite teams his agent will be expecting to come in for him

That's what he said, Villa. Would be a huge step up for him from Newcastle.

Guimarães has perhaps been overrated but still a good player, would probably be a good signing for Manchester United for example. But surely Newcastle will do all they can to avoid selling, when you look at their squad despite owner's wealth and recent relative success, they don't actually have much in the way of top players, without selling one of the few they do have, if they want to become serious challengers on a consistent basis they need to build team around the likes of Guimarães and Isak

There's talk of them bringing in Lloyd Kelly, they wouldn't need to sell Guimarães to fund that transfer as Kelly is out of contract in the summer

Kelly has also been linked to Spurs and Liverpool, maybe just his agent trying to get him a big move. I remember his name at Bristol City from when we were in the Champtionship, he had a big rep as promising young player then, but didn't realize he was doing as well now as the links to Newcastle, Liverpool and Spurs would suggest, but again could just be his people trying to drum up interest

We have won seven major trophies since Newcastle last won anything.

Who said anything about Newcastle being an elite team?

A lot of paper talk about them having to sell Isak to either to Spurs or Arsenal in order to buy in the summer due to FFP.  What a lovely system the cartel 6 have in place.

Well they've spent a lot of money over the past few years. I guess you could ask the question, did they spend it wisely? Why do they need to go into the market again?

What are their tickets prices like?  Have they hiked them up like us? I would presume they would be even less likely to charge London prices given the north east is the poorest region in the country,

Other clubs are available.

Although admittedly it’s increasingly difficult to get good money outside of the PL.

Doesn’t make a whole load of sense. If they need to offload to spend, they’d be selling him for upwards of £100m.

It's a weird deal

But I can tell you matter of factly sports direct do not sell all of the top league replica kits and if they do the right to do so then **** them because they don't they pick and choose which top 6 club they want to sell

Reminds me of Max Aarons endlessly being linked to CL clubs and then just moving from Norwich to Bournemouth which reflects his ability.

I can see them signing Kelly though basically as they've just lost two LCBs for most of next season so desperately need a fresh face there and he's on a free and someone Howe signed before.

That injury record is something else though, shows he picks up plenty of muscle injuries so something isn't right with his conditioning.

Aarons was genuinely very good at one point, one of Norwich's best players when he was still a teenager, in his case he probably stayed with them too long and didn't progress. Jamal Lewis is another from Norwich who was very highly rated, got a big money move to Newcastle, but playing on loan for Watford who have an option to buy him

Presumably they stock their shelves with the items that will make them the most money?

Yeah they will but if you go in to sports Kidderminster you can get top 6, real Madrid, barca, psg, bayern, juve maybe dortmund and the milan clubs

If their argument is that they sell everyone's shirt up and down the country they're talking shit, you cant

Paper talk of Dan Ashworth imminently off to Utd. For a sporting director to go so soon into a new major moneybags project, surely that's kind of a bad signal for the club? Massive overhaul for them this summer - possibly on a tight budget - new DoF, new manager a possibility, and lots of their best players being hunted by other clubs. It's quite some way off what was expected.
