  1. Since we got wind of them binning the new round d badge it had been amateur hour with Villa's branding - worst I can remember. On brand my arse.
  2. The Dragon Rouge designed lion works great as a stand alone or within a crest. It works great digitally and on the shirt. It's also claret on a blue background, representing our colours! But we'll end up with the Lerner evolved yellow drop shadow thing that may or may not be more intricate on the shirt.
  3. Once again a fan mockup is far superior, and more stand out, to something commissioned by the club but people will line up to say we just don't understand and the new one leaked and on the way this summer will be better equipped to make us huge revenue streams or some other spiel along these lines.
  4. We averaged 40k in I think 2008-2009 but attendances fell off a cliff when McLeish was appointed and didn't recover until Dean Smith was appointed. I think we would fill 50k most weeks but if they keep ramping up prices the vicious cycle will kick in and will force some to quit going. That's why I don't like the noises- cancelling a new stand, and announcing more corporate in an existing stadium that isn't big enough.
  5. Careful. Folks will get very offended if you criticise our Chris!
  6. Claret lion, claret lettering, blue background and that would be it.
  7. Seriously impressed here. Such a great signing and the way he has hit the ground running is something else
  8. I said similar a couple of weeks ago. Surely they could have delivered a shield but with the good elements from the round badge:
  9. I'm not trying to be smart but the current location has been home to a large stadium for 125 years, at times, when it was one of the largest grounds in England.
  10. Claret lion on a blue background is such an obvious direction for us to go I can't believe we haven't had that since 1992 (until the one year wonder round badge of course).
  11. I understand that @Teale's 'tache, as in a lion outside the crestvor whatever as a stand-alone. Just seems odd to have the drop shadow yellow lion for example and a really detailed lion that is a different colour.
  12. As things stand there is confusion because of all our badges, two official ones this year FFS! Why would they then go and have two versions of the new badge? Like, that makes no sense. Oh the drop shadow is a representation of the actual lion- that will just confuse things further?
  13. I actually find it staggering that people think the branding issue has been well handled and not sure how it can be reconciled with the argument that 'we need this because it will generate revenue and fans just don't understand'.
  14. Indeed. Would be better in a New stand rather than subtracted from the existing ground.
  15. Yeah, but it's not really apparent how certain things are going to achieve that. Why would I buy merchandise this season when I don't know what the badge is and the club said the current one is shit?! Not the best now is it.
  16. There are more shields than round badges But parking that why not deliver a shield with a claret lion on blue background? Why keep the aspects people really hate?
  17. I get a lot of negativity for harping on the off field issues. I just want us to be as good off the field as we are on it. I want us to be the best version of ourselves and I think we deserve the best (especially given price increases).
  18. Liverpool will be nervous about coming to Villa Park. Just think, had we had any luck with injuries and 6-7 points more, that would have been such a massive game in the title race!
  19. I would not swap Emery for anyone. Sometimes a manager is the right fit for a certain club and I believe Emery was just made for Aston Villa. He is the right manager for us, the best manager for us.
  20. Well maybe they could have said something along those lines last summer instead of the B.S we got? That the whole 2022 process of finding an identity for villa fans to appreciate was a waste because the new audience is more important and to them villa is now known to a new audience as the pale yellow lion club so that trumps all else.
  21. We were the first super club really. World famous and the trophy haul of that era wasn't surpassed until Liverpool in the 70s. That's why we should value our heritage as we move forward in a New era.
  22. Did you think Scot Hogan was the missing piece of the jigsaw when we signed him?
