Bruce wasn't even in China with his team. Not exactly the sign of manager who's totally committed to the job.

He only got appointed this morning

I did think the same! when did he know he was being appointed (it wasn't this morning...) could he have flown out, does he (rightfully) distance himself from this game, its not a home friendly to do any kind of launch event for him, not sure if they have another game vs the loser of the city match, if they are coming home tonight then it makes no sense for him to be there

Sure you cant judge him until he has a full pre season

which as this one has already started, means he should in full fairness be given the next 11 3/4 months regardless to settle in. Only fair.

He is aiming for relegation which is obvious, he will then Hoover up the parachute payments for a year or two and then sell the club once all is said and done.

This makes no sense.

Definitely not. As Hanoi says it makes no sense. All the value and income in a club comes from the PL. The club is worth more to sell as a PL club, the income is massively higher from all the TV money. His aim has been to stay in the prem and spend as little as possible in doing that. It still looks like that is the plan. Aiming for relegation is not the plan, though you're right that the possibility / risk is there. Bruce is a "safe" cautious choice. He's not a winner, he's not for playing entertaining football as an ethos. He's all about stodgy, functional, deal with the present never mind long term planning type football.

Correct, considerably more money to be hoovered up by staying in the prem, even if finishing 17th. I assume Ashley thinks Bruce can keep them up with minimal outlay until he can sell, after siphoning off another couple of hundred million of TV money.

If its true about Bruce being 11th choice (!) Then the 3 years is probably Bruce's demand making sure he gets a good payout when he gets sacked as he will probably then retire.

Also, if 11th choice it does destroy the argument that any championship manager would jump at the job.

So, Bolasie loan nailed on?

Andy Carroll and/or Daniel Sturridge signing on a free nailed on?

Alan Hutton and Glenn Whelan on a free nailed on?

Who else will Brucey bring in?
