It's just lazy punditry and research. They probably think we were 11th when Gerrard was sacked (we were 18th I think) and just look at the league table and think we haven't done much but 11 points clear of 12th shows we have improved significantly and we're very unlucky not to be in top 10 but those just above like Brighton and Brentford have gone on very good runs themselves since November. But quite honestly, the worst anti-Villa commentary I've heard in the past year or so was from our former captain Andy Townsend. It's like he was going out of his way to prove he hates the club. I am surprised you think that. Townsend always speaks highly of the Villa and I always thought he thinks of us as his club. He played his best football with us and is still (nearly 30 years on) the last captain to lift a proper trophy for us.
