bobzy
Fantastic context for this thread - adds a personal ("real life") touch to the positivity shown in the first post. Thanks for sharing @BOF. I wasn't around at the time for paddy's postings (and, in any case, I joined VT for the On Topic (and stayed for the Off Topic)) but what a great thread to have started and to continually remember him by.

I was randomly thinking the same a while back, about how great it is that someone I never met or interacted with in some way lives on and regularly brings a smile to mine and many others faces. Hopefully the people who knew him in real life are aware of the 'cheer' he's brought to people and how well he is remembered 10 years later. Xela
Great post @BOF. Can't believe its been 10 years As others have said, it is lovely that the memory of people taken far too soon, live on in this forum, by having a thread named after them.

We should do it more when people are alive.

As long as you've come back with no additional fingers or toes and your eyes still both point in the same direction I would consider that a result.

Popular Post Genie
We got back from Majorca last night. It was an absolutely fantastic 5 days away. Just what we all needed. No plans, no trip, just flitting between the pool and the beach and regular trips to the bar.

Popular Post Xela
So, this was where I stopped in Norfolk. Pub called The Bedingfield Arms, in Oxborough. Between Swaffham and Downham Market. Lovely setting. Pub is the building in the middle. Church is to the right and the far right is Oxburgh (yes, different spelling) Hall, a moated house originally built for Sir Edmund Bedingfield. The food was great, the staff were excellent and the ales tasted good!. Went to the coast one one of the days (about 25 miles away) but it was a bit blustery, but still nice to see the ocean nonetheless. I used to like sitting out at night (under the heater!), just enjoying the silence and peacefulness. With the occasional noise from wildlife, including owls hooting. Just felt very chilled. Love that part of the country.

If I wanted sightseeing I would go to Scotland, The Lakes, Oxford/London Edinburgh and the like. Beach holiday is total relax no plans no rush. And it's everything I need to do to get away from the hectic lifestyle. I HATE being off work and having plans and deadlines, places to be.
Popular Post villa4europe
Catch 22 for me because on holiday I obviously want to relax and do whatever I feel like in the given moment But at the same time the months of research, reading up, YouTube videos, talking to people, usually asking around on here etc and then planning it is part of what makes generates the buzz for me And because I of course do those hours of research whilst at work makes it even better... Edit - Im currently trying to pick a hotel for a holiday next year, got 3 with nothing in it really so I found YouTube videos of their breakfast buffet giving me a winner I enjoy that kind of stuff, that for me is part of a holiday Edited October 23, 2021 by villa4europe
