Evening Standard are onto it down here.

Spurs are keen to test Villa's resolve to keep the talented midfielder with a bid before the August 9 transfer deadline, although talks are yet to take place between the clubs.

Villa need to make at least £40million due to the financial problems of owner Tony Xia and Spurs hope the crisis-club will agree to sell the England Under-21 international for a cut-price fee of £15-20million.

Villa are thought to be holding out for at least £30m, however, after Grealish helped them to the Championship play-off final with a string of fine performances.

Grealish, 22, is currently on a pre-season training camp with Villa in Portugal but he is said to be aware of Spurs' interest and keen to make the switch.

They are that keen that they have yet to talk to us about our player and want to pay the  same fee that they offered and that we rejected all those years ago for Benteke. Jack is "keen" to make the switch is he? Not so keen as Benteke was I would guess and he never went there did he? Let's hope history will repeat itself.

why i hate the media in a nutshell

make anything up you want but make sure you add 1 or 2 words to how you say it so that you have absolutely no accountability for it

If the club were in a decent state we would be offering him an improved contract to tie him up so we get a respectable fee if we don't get promoted this season.

Instead were run by numpties who have run the club into the ground and as a result we are now scratching down the back of the sofa trying to find any pennies to pay the next tax bill.

He’s normally to focal point of their pics to be fair, coupled with the fact he hasn’t actually posted anything either - and he is normally very active on social media.

If no fee has been agreed, that means no offer has been made ! Surely there won't be a transfer without a fee being agreed between two clubs ?

Social media bollocks, this is no further forward than when the press were lying about maximum of £15M bids from Spurs.

Everyone should calm down.

It’s happening, Levy just happy to drive down the fee

Yeah exactly, we’ve been a selling Club since Yorke. Cowards at board level for 20 years pretty much

Even during his allocated time off? Just curious, this period would be the little chance he has to unwind from it all for a short while.

Now we're back, and we'll know the outcomes shortly.

Losing him will be the biggest disappointment I've experienced while I've been a supporter.

We've seen some tripe in the last decade or so, nothing has shone quite as bright as Grealish coming of age.

To be fair, you could argue we've been a selling club since Gerry Hitchens.

Being a selling club is fine, when you sell players and reinvest to try and improve.

We are selling a once in a generation academy product to balance the books.

Its a **** disgrace and should never be forgotten while bruce and xia remain
