Even then, although Barton may be slightly superior, if he didn't go for Reo-Coker on a free, I'm not sure he'd go for Barton. Especially with (apparently) Lass Diarra may be going Spurs. Where someone like Real Madrid might not like the idea of giving £16m for someone with 6 months left on their contract, you can bet they'd pony up on wages and go toe to toe with you on someone for a free transfer.
