who is this guy?, is he another M.J.Goldson? (or whoever that was).

He’s Lee but a Maximum version hence Max Lee.  Like Bruce Lee but on steroids.

In all seriousness, it's a huge coup to pull this signing off as well.  Diaby is a player you'd expect to go to someone like Arsenal, Bayern, or Juve for 50 million and no one would bat an eye.  Emery and Monchi quietly making huge moves so far with Pau Torres and hopefully  Diaby.

Trust the Twitter bedwetters to get mad about an alleged low bid. Not how negotiations work. Even if that’s remotely true. French sources seem to suggest we are negotiating still.

Hopefully they don't take us to the cleaners like they did with the last player we bought from them.

Are you Doug Ellis? 28 million for Bailey is very low budget in the current market

Bailey is worth at most £10m in the current market, he's turd and has been a huge flop here. We'll lose around £20m on him.  Diaby seems to be his replacement which we badly need because Bailey hasn't worked out.

Assuming if we are formally bidding then we might have sounded out Diaby and he’s interested.

I know it doesn’t always happen or he wants us to bid to force bigger clubs to bid but I’m trying to be positive that he could be serious about coming here. 🤞

Just as a reference point -

According to Transfermarkt, Bailey’s record in the Bundesliga was -

119 games. 28 goals. 21 assists.

For those who want a bit more detail, the number of minutes Bailey played equated to around 83 games.

Diaby’s four seasons in the Bundesliga are -

125 games. 31 goals. 38 assists. Equivalent of 107 games worth of minutes.

GFFN indicated there's interest but lack of CL might be a hindrance. The signing of Torres shows it's not impossible to sign higher calibre players without it.

This is more credible

"Leverkusen consider it to be a good starting point for further negotiations."

That sounds to me as they are happy with what would be the initial fee and the negotiations will be about structure of fee, add-ons, sell-on clause etc.
