I actually thought we were a bit poor today and got a lucky to get 3 points. But who cares. We know how to win games!!

Shoring up the right hand side won us the game.

Bailey was literally a waste of a player tonight, we changed several players around to accommodate him and it really wasn't worth it.

Bertie with a bertie goal

He's consistently less inconsistent than Bailey,  and bertie is inconsistent.

Relief on that one, we normally manage to mess it up so getting a last grasp win was pure pleasure.

Luiz and McGinn that centre midfield pairing that didn’t function for years , ran that engine room perfectly today .. makes you wonder if other managers just didn’t know what they were doing  

Young keeps the pressure on Martinez for shothousery of the year award , he bought 2 yellow cards there , the second one probably the one that lead to 3 points 

Bertie didn’t even skip a beat with that winner , for a player whose had a tough time that was one confident finish 

 

hopefully that’s a big dent in Leicesters survival hopes

I thought it was a dominant performance without needing to be that good. Harvey Barnes was a nuisance and scored a world class goal but I felt we were the better team. Yes there were a couple of scary moments but we scored two brilliant goals for different reasons.

The first was like Gerd Muller in the World Cup final after three very good passes through the lines and the second was sensational. As Jack Grealish said about Bertie “Maestro”. The guy is a genius an inconsistent one but a genuinely gifted player.

To be fair, as Villa fans we've been conditioned for that to be the case. Villa do not win games like tonight to continue a good run that got them int he top half. Villa go close, wilt, **** it up, mentally collapse, then the owner's wife tells them to stop spending money on us, then we sign a load of old donkeys for their last big payday and we get relegated.

Fair play to Bailey, you can see him genuinely cheering with the fans and happy for Bertie. It would be easy for him to be a bit sullen in that situation.

Hopefully he can find some form and be a part of the journey...
