Missed the game, can someone give me a little run down? @fruitvilla review was good, but what was the story arc? Did we deserve it?

We started brightly enough but Leicester played most of the match like they were chasing 6th place.  Villa played like we were tired and had patches where it looked like we still had Gerrard as a manager.

However we have Watkins who scored a great goal. They had Barnes who was fantastic and Ashley Young struggled against him. Barnes scored a great goal.

Leicester then got a red card (2 yellows) and we then played even worse from an attacking sense. Completely devoid of ideas even though we had all the possession. Leicester played 10 men in defence.

We all were shouting for Emery to make subs, but he was just there at the touchline chilling as if it was all going according to plan.

85 mins gone, we still look bad in attack… then Emery does a super triple sub.  60 seconds later Traore scores a goal like only he can score. Emery smiles like it was all part of the plan.

We should see out the win, but Villa being Villa we give away a pen. Turns out it wasn’t a pen and VAR overrules it.

We win a hard fought victory and the crowd and players go wild.

I think thats a little harsh to be honest.

They and the crowd were obviously buoyed by the manager departing and of the unknown future. But the only real threat they had was a long ball over the top to Vardy or Barnes.

Barnes took his goal very, very well but did Emi have another save to make? They just camped in their own half with 10 men behind the ball. We did look leggy but it's Leicester. Is anyone excited by the prospect of being in that town?

That's a fairly negative view of things.

We rarely looked threatened, even when Leicester had a run of corners.  Then Barnes popped up with a worldie that was probably deserved, but he could easily have missed that on another day.

After they scored it was a bit turgid until the sending off, then we never lost possession.

Wearing them down, until we unleashed Traoré on their unsuspecting defence.

It wasn't a classic but I didn't think Leicester played well. We did play slowly but 3 games in 8 days is going to do that to you.

Yes true, that was a bit harsh comparing us to a Gerrard team.  Just in patches but yes probably because we were tired and they had adrenaline from Rodgers being gone.
