How would European football affect Villa supporters?

I know this is pure madness. I know it's tempting fate. I know it's definitely getting carried away.

Nonetheless.

How do YOU think Villa supporters' various patterns of behaviour might shift were Villa somehow to claw their way into a European spot?

I've never seen Villa in Europe whilst a member of Villa Talk.

I wonder how things change around here. Is there more away trip planning?

Do our supporters get wonderfully entitled?

Does a certain kind of cheap-Euro-flight-warrior away fan suddenly emerge?

Are there more conflicts or fewer conflicts between the opposition and VIlla supporters? Are there fewer?

And there must be a billion little things I can't begin to imagine. Like what?

I don’t think much changes.  I just think it’ll be the level of player some fans think we can get even though there is no way in hell.  For example us getting non-CL european football doesn’t mean Felix would come to us or that we could afford his fee and wages if he was interested but some fans will believe we could.

We will be able to attract better players but there is still a gulf of us being able to attract the elite although there could be an exception that proves it wrong but generally no but some fans won’t get that.

Well the  last time we had a decent run we didn't sell out a single home game, though Ajax was a cracking atmosphere.

I guess you'd hope that having been starved for so long, with the optimism around the place, and a manager who specialises in going far in European knockout tournaments, that that would change if we manage to get in again. I know I'd be doing anything I could to get a ticket.

I wonder how things change around here. Is there more away trip planning? - of course

Do our supporters get wonderfully entitled? - yea, we all thought we'd batter Rapid Vienna, twice... We expect to be competitive away from home and win our home games Vs the Europa League minnows..

Does a certain kind of cheap-Euro-flight-warrior away fan suddenly emerge? - nah

Are there more conflicts or fewer conflicts between the opposition and VIlla supporters? Are there fewer? - we're pretty good in Europe.  Can't really remember much trouble when we were in Europe in the MON era.

And there must be a billion little things I can't begin to imagine. Like what? - it's not that different tbf.

I for one would be gutted used all my holidays for the year!

On a serious note my trip to Prague in 2008 was one of my favourite away games!  The game was average but the fun with fellow Villa fans for the 4 days I was there were awesome.

I personally think we will fall short due to the Gerrard part of the season.

No bad thing as I don't think we have the squad at the moment but we should still go all out for it.

To even have this conversation is mental I love Unai he is the manager of our dreams.

The away days are absolutely **** incredible

Would be interesting to see if it impacted our excellent PL away support, I do kind of buy in to man City fans excuses that you can't do everything, if we're taking 5k away to Europe on the thursday night (!) would we still take 3k to say Newcastle or London on the Sunday afternoon

But seriously if there's one thing you do as a football fan, barring winning something as that's out of our control, go to a European game

It has been far too long since we were last in Europe. It is great to test yourself against other countries representatives and there are a couple of teams that I recall that we really owe one (Rapid Wien, Lille, Trabzonspor, Juventus and Royal Antwerp, to name but a few). It would be nice to set a couple of those teams straight, starting with those Austrians.

Some of us are old enough to remember when we were in the UEFA Cup fairly regularly. I don't think it would change us much.

Now, if we win a couple PLs , then maybe supporter egos will get out of control. Look what happened to City. But just getting into the Europa League a few times isn't going to inflate egos or attract a zillion bandwagon supporters.

We could get a tie in the arse end of Armenia and it would probably still be nigh on impossible to get an away ticket.

maybe. maybe not. you won't have those that buy tickets for every away game but sell half of them to their mates because you can't buy european away tickets without providing your flight details
