For me its not either or, in some games you play both, but if you play 1, then it is Coutinho every time. I don't think people are moaning about that. Phil will come up with an influential game from time to time but in reality he is all about special moments. Not being in great form for 10 games in a row. The conundrum for Gerrard is who plays out of Bailey and Buendia? People seem to think that any time he isn't amazing then he hasn't had a good game. Coutinho of now isn’t someone who is going to run away from players like he did in his prime. He’s very good on the ball and wants to link moves and find the runs. Trouble is the way we’ve played in pre season and later end of last year the three CMs are so deep when we attack his only options ahead of him are Watkins and Bailey who offer limited movement against a packed defence or the easy pass wide to the full backs. We need to get more runs ahead of the ball from CMs but they can’t do that because they are covering for the full backs. Hopefully we’ll find the right balance but not sure we’ve found it yet. We look to be weighting the side to be more solid but have lost an attacking edge.
