Only vaguely familiar with the source material but based on what I know of it, I think that’s the best MR James adaptation Mark Gatiss has done so far. Half way through, the lad says that he asked for a Paw Patrol gift and can't see it. The wife explains that maybe it's under the tree as that's where Santa puts big gifts. I whispered over his head to say it should have been by the fireplace and good luck finding it (way too much under the tree). The wife takes offence, says I'm completely wrong about that and replies that she knows exactly where it is as she's got Christmas 100% sorted with no issues. The lad then pulls another gift out of his stocking and asks why Santa has given him shaving foam. Having a glass of wine and finishing Don't Look Up on Netflix with the dog snoring next to me. All the presents are under the tree and the lad is nearly 3 so he's going to go mental.
