No way will there be more restrictions in February. This wave just can't be sustained till then. It would be pointless putting new procedures in place now because it's too late.

I reckon it will blow out in 2 weeks and new infections will fall faster than the increase went up.

I honestly hope you are right. However that's what people said would happen 12 months ago and we're still in this mess. Before I commit to a £500 deposit which will be a headache to try and get back I figure to wait and see. People have socialised over Christmas and I suspect the next few weeks will be worse for numbers before they get better. However, this isn't the thread for that chat.

Christmas and New Year will have been like pouring petrol on a fire.  It will be over even quicker because of it.  It would still burn out before February I think but it would have been a slower burn.

We're going to see a massive spike in the next few days that we may not have otherwise have seen.

The optimism last year was driven by the arrival of the vaccine.  It was well placed optimism because they acted as expected as the curve shows.

My optimism is driven by the virus itself, it's so successful at transmission it's just not going to be able to find new hosts very quickly.

We've decided to leave our tree up for another few weeks.

We had minimal decorations in the house but love the glow of the tree lights of an evening. It ain't shedding it's needles yet, so sod it, it can crack on.

I've got an absolutely massive clock.

I mean huge. Circumference is easily 3m+ fills the largest wall in our extension.

Last 2 years we've threaded some copper coloured wirey lights through and around it. They suit it really well.  Anyway we've decided to leave them up permanently.  A little bit of Christmas all through the year👍

About a 1/4 of a roses tub of mixed choccies left, half a small Christmas cake, half a box of Turkish delight, half a tub of twiglets, an unopened box of after eights and two bottles of snowballs. Wish I still had some of the port left, was lovely stuff.

Yeah leftovers this year. Unusual.

Small beef and gammon joint in freezer along with a triple choc cheesecake ; two bottles of cava, three bottles of wine, eight cans of Guinness, ten cans of IPA, half bottles of gin and vodka. Box of After Eights.

Shopping bill is lowest for months this week.

You must have a huge freezer.

Our first two weeks of University are going to be online. We've already had 2 snow days (so I'm not even teaching from my studio on campus.)

Basically I'm at home with the nipper running around so it's like an endless Christmas! At least one more week and I can see that being extended.
