We've replaced our talisman with some fine talent, but done nothing at all to address our weaknesses elsewhere. Midfield is awful - so we can't get the ball to Buendia and co in the right areas - our 'creativity' is 60 yd Tyrone Mings balls - and then we don't have the legs in midfield to protect the back four, so when they break, they run straight at our defence. It's a mess. I've been thinking of the right way to put this - here's what I've got - if you put a 'score' on it, where a decent midfield is a total of 15 points and you can dominate with 18, we've got McGinn who's a 6, Luiz, also 6, Nakamba 4, Hourihane 5, Sanson 5 and J Ramsey 4. We're playing two in the middle, McGinn and Nakamba - it gives us 10 on that scale - I reckon we need 15 to be competitive - if we bring off El Ghazi for Ramsey at half time we'll be an almost okay midfield - a 14 made up of three players. We need to play three of what we've got just to be average. At the moment, we seem obsessed with trying to play lots of forward players, because we've bought lots of forward players and as a result we're unbalanced, ineffective and we're going to get beaten. A lot. I know it's only 45 minutes, but those midfield option aren't going to suddenly get better in the second half - we need more in there - and we absolutely have to play three until we have two options that are anywhere near good enough. 7 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
