The new season is nearly here!

Our first 5 games are:

  • Watford (A)
  • Newcastle (H)
  • Brentford (H)
  • Chelsea (A)
  • Everton (H)

So how many points we getting from that lot?

Personally I think

  • Watford - D
  • Newcastle - W
  • Brentford - W
  • Chelsea - L
  • Everton - D
  • Total = 8 points

I really do hate this question. Everytime we tend to expect a good number of points. We win the lowest.
Heart says 11-15. Mind says I don’t have a clue.
What makes it harder is the fact that a lot of new players, many missing players. How will we react after Jack.

I think if we start well and beat Watford we could end up with 10 points.

Chelsea away is a tough game and Everton are never easy! I’d be disappointed if we don’t beat Newcastle and Brentford at home.

10 optimistically.

If we have players out injured, getting up to fitness, getting up to speed with the squad (which we do)... then to achieve the optimistic target would be amazing.  With that in mind,  I'll be happy with anything 8 or over

We have to start strong this season so i reckon

Watford =Win

Newcastle=Win

Brentford = Win

Chelsea = Draw

Everton = win

so 13 for me is very doable

remember all the teams will expect us to play like the villa of last season..which we will be a million miles away from tactically..we might shock some big hitters also

Honestly I think around 6.

2 pre season friendlies missed

Dean Smith isolating

Bailey and Ings barely integrated.

Sanson, Traore, Buendia and Watkins missed a lot with injury.

Luiz late from Olympics

Talk of new formations with Ings and Buendia.

Lost best player 10 days before season.

Its going to take a while to integrate this squad. Once we get going I'm sure we will solidify towards top 10, but we might need to be patient.

These are all very valid points. I can see this season being a season of two halves like last year, but in reverse - poor first half, strong second half.

That said, I think a lot of teams are in the same boat with a disrupted pre-season. It’s just a case of getting on a run as early as possible.

In some ways it’s disappointing to have an ‘easier’ 3 fixtures to start as it’s a good opportunity to catch a few of the big teams cold with a lot of them not fielding their best players in the opening games.
