Liverpool's first win at home this year, liverpool's first goals at home from open play this year.

We are specialists in breaking teams bad runs.

That's Smith's Villa for you.

The same people that mocked anyone that criticised McNeil, Lamert & Bruce. Don't worry, they know nothing.

Nah, I'm one that defends Smith overall but as you will see i criticise or praise match by match.  I smashed Bruce deservedly and I was mixed on McNeil and Lambert but I think I've always been fair.

Usually agree with the majority on here, but some of these reactions are mental.

Davis has become prime Ronaldo9 in some people’s minds because of a decent cameo against Fulham (Fulham!!)

Smith getting flak for his subs when half of them were forced on him by injury, and his bench options barely allow him to change the dynamic of the game - especially as right until the end he’s happy to walk away with a point, so why roll the dice?

Think a lot of people are forgetting that Liverpool are the champions and we finished 17th last year, and our star player is injured. The big club entitlement is staggering.

Still can't work out how smith and his coaching staff think that the first sub shouldn't be anything other than traore off for Davis?

Traore was utter dirt yet again today and watkins could have moved right for Davis in the middle.

But no.

On, in slo mo waddles the fat lazy scouser.

Then once the first wrong sub is made traore has to come off anyway.

Then there's a chance to still bring on Davis but nope.

Davis isn't going to score but against a timid Liverpool defence he would have shown for the ball, held it up, challenged for it, laid it off, ran around.... all the things birkley refuses to do.

Subs cost us which is down to smith ultimately but the coaching staff advising him also take responsibility for letting traore stay on the pitch for so long and then allowing birkley to go on the pitch.

If he wasn't putting a villa shirt on, I would find it hilarious watching his piss poor attempts crap attitude and total ineffectiveness for the team stupid enough to play him.

Unfortunately that's villa, so not a laughing matter.

We have traore who we paid for who at least 50% of the time is shit, we don't need to borrow someone worse !!!

Are you being sarcastic.

While Smith should take a lot of blame today just as the turn around last game he should take credit.....half the problem today was players.  Mings on that chance for Salah first half was bizarre.  Traore trying to cross field pass for the second game on the trot and passing straight to Salah who should've done better.  Their second goal, our playing reacting.....I could go on.  That wasnt Dean's fault thatis on the players.

Dean's fault was the set up and the overall performance but individual play is on the players.....

The set up and overall performance is what cost us the game, not the incidents you mention.

Thanks....it's nice that somebody wrote my name with a 'h' as well, the amount of times people leave that out.

I will caveat that I'm happy overall but today was shocking

The most infuriating thing is you can see the pattern of the game first half play out, the goal was coming. We get infront and get the let off with VAR, great, but take action against the way the game is going. Change it up. KD is a great option to come on and bully their weak defence. Did enough last week to get a half this week.

Then to round it off, great chance at the death for Dross to make himself a hero with us again but no. City will be fun next. Arsenal play SHU tomorrow. Bottom half finish here we come.

-10/10 for his game today? Jesus, I don’t know what you expect really. I guess we’ll agree to disagree.

Well he pretty much cost us for their goal by not closing down.

Hence, -10/10. Barkley the same for **** up two chances.

we could've walked away with a draw or win if wasnt for that last minute goal, Ross had done something better with that late chance and or Trez post shot had gone in.  While I'm not totally disagreeing with your point, the individuals did silly mistakes during the game that cost us.  We almost won that game, we almost definitely drawed that game and in the end we lost and while I though set up and overall performance was poor and Smith deserves criticism for that, so does the players for some of the things they did that cost us the game.

Blaming Smith totally is nowhere near a fair or honest view of the game.

Said before the game that Davis needs to start (he would have bullied that centre half pairing), and Traore has been poor, despite the assist last week he hasn't been good enough for a while. The Barkley sub on paper makes sense, however with how he has been playing he should've been shipped back to Chelsea already.

Dean Smith this was a poor showing mate. The tactics weren't really wrong but the team selection was. We seem to think football is ping pong without Jack. If the ball isn't sticking up top and you're going away to anfield, you really should be playing a target man.

Surround that Target man with tireless runners that will offer plenty of options and you might just win. A narrow front three of Ollie, Davis, and Trez was the order of the day and Mcginn as a number 8 with Luiz. Tireless workers in every position and no sight of 'I need and sedan chair (Barkley)'

Let's be clear Barkley does lots of running, but he does even attempt to tackle? Gets the ball and tries to be Messi. His first touch after coming was to attempt and jumping rabona flick only to send it straight to the opposition. Straight away I had my head in my hands thinking 'oh no not again.'

Why do so many people wanna be critical of Smith, to the point of making out he is shit and out of his depth.

Totally understand criticism of him, no-one is above criticism. But for God sake think before saying stuff like out of his depth etc etc

HE'S THE BLOODY REASON WE ARE IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE AND THE REASON I LOOK FORWARD TO WATCHING VILLA AGAIN

Well that, and competent owners who don't mind spending a few quid

Fine ill be the lamb to the slaughter 😅  We are in 10th and playing far better than last season.  It shows we have made progress just not in the way people are happy about.

This is just a learning curve and I'll take that over being in a relegation battle.

See lots of people mentioning Liverpool's winless streak at home and yes it is annoying, but these streaks don't last forever. If everything else was the same but Liverpool had won at home a couple of games ago, would people be so angry? Not sure.

Yes in a lot of those games Liverpool bossed but couldn't score. Same today. Think the one big mistake that smith made was bringing on Barkley for Nakamba. Its bad game management.
