Popular Post imavillan
So shocked to hear the sad news of Sean Lock. Always funny to watch on 8 out of 10 cats with razor sharp wit

The only terrestrial TV show I watch regularly, loved the banter between him and Jon. Same age as me too, FFS. Scary.
StanBalaban
Him and Miles Jupp together would always crack me up. Very sad news.

fightoffyour Posted August 18, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2021 Saw him do stand up at Leeds Festival maybe just before he became really famous. As has been said, he didn’t suit the format too well and his set was funny in places but nothing great. He gets heckled and comes out with the most brilliant put down I’ve ever heard, everyone absolutely pissing themselves. I’ll never forget that, really great example of his wit that came across on the various panel shows. RIP.
Ingram85
I did think it was a matter of when from when he was last on 8/10 countdown. Such a shame. RIP Sean. A great comic mind. I had the same feeling the last time I saw Henning Wehn as well a few months ago, he looked very skeletal. Hope he is ok.
Mark Albrighton Posted August 18, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2021 I think I remember one of Sean Lock’s routines was how the rise of internet porn has reduced the ingenuity men had when tasked with hiding pornography around the house. I think he described it as a lost skill set, “like barrel making”. Very funny bloke, utter shame he’s gone.

One clip I cannot find is from 8 out of 10 cats (not the countdown version) where he's mimicking either an AA meeting or a cancer survivors meeting, and the punchline is him impersonating someone at the back of the room speaking through an electrolarynx asking someone to open a window because of the smoke. I nearly died laughing. I've trawled the net looking for it.

a m ole
One of the few British comedians I actually liked. Him and KD Lang, that’s about it. Oh and James Acasters special was great. Oh and David Mitchell. So basically, RIP sean. Edited August 18, 2021 by a m ole 1
Mark Albrighton Posted August 18, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2021 (edited) I should probably rewatch “15 Storeys High”, I have the sense I’d appreciate it more now. The one bit that stuck with me (and just rewatched the clip to recall it correctly) was Errol (Benedict Wong) checking the answer machine for any messages for either him or Vince (Sean Lock) and the following message being played - “Hello this is Jim Robbins from Hanna-Barbera Productions, Los Angeles. I hope I am speaking to Mr Vince Clark. In response to your query Mr Clark, Yogi Bear’s tie was fashioned in a Windsor knot. I repeat a Windsor knot. I hope this satisfies your curiosity. Goodbye.” Edited August 18, 2021 by Mark Albrighton
