Give it time, takes about half a season to really get into. Damn, now I'm tempted but I watched it for a second time with the wife about 5 years ago. Not sure she'd be up for seeing McNulty, Stringer Bell, Prop Joe, Bubbles, Bunk, Omar, and Clay Davis again. Series 1 of The Wire is probably my favourite series of anything ever.
