I can't believe I'm giving their owners credit, but at least they're paying for the new ground themselves unlike those smut peddling parasites.

I'm off now to fumigate.

I didnt listen to it but its Deeney so guessing its bullshit😝

He said he had a chance to sign for us back in 2013, but part of the conversation was that he would have to get his SHA tattoo removed. Judging by what he said it seems this, along with his family's reaction, are the only reasons he didn't.

Not buying it, his brother played for our youth team

Also 2013 nobody really knew about his tattoo and he was just out of prison. I imagine if we were interested thats probably what we were concerned about 😝

Definitely BS, it was all said as “a friend told me Villa were interested but had the condition I get rid of the tattoo”. It’s never the club saying it so he can easily get out of it saying his friend must have been mistaken.

He probably thought long and hard about a story to get some clicks.

He’s just trying to get some help in his media career from them lot up the road.

Probably why he had a pop at Ollie as well because he needs 4 chances to score compared to Toney

I'd be interested to see what the business plan is. I assume they plan to make a profit from the other developments in the plan rather than the stadium itself.

His brother is a Villa fan, so I can't imagine his family's reaction would've been a sticking point

Council are screwed for cash (everywhere). Public services are already strangled, so it's natural "wants" such as sports will take a big hit in the next 5/10 years. There's a big opportunity here.

With big investment, the land could become Birmingham's and the midlands premier sports venue for athletics, rugby, even NFL (there's a huge NFL fanbase in the midlands). Bolting on a really good indoor arena is good revenue generator from events such as JuJitsu, Karate competitions which are held every week.

A half empty 50k ground is irrelevant, the additional 8-10m a year from lost ticket sales will be easily recouped from other sports in the area.

It's a really good idea to out generate competitors in revenue as their fanbase and football based revenue will always be lacking compared to the bigger established premier league clubs.

As someone raised in this area I can only commend the investment. It's a shame our club appear to be quite narrow minded when it comes to this, as we could have done something similar around the airport / NEC. (Still waiting for Dr Tony's Theme park)

I'd have huge doubts about attracting NFL to Birmingham, they already have everything they need in London and will be focused on expanding to other countries. They will also make more money from having an NFL game in London than Birmingham. Also I'm not sure that rugby will really be an option, What team is going to play in this new stadium and attract 20K+ fans? Athletics isn't going to generate any money and if you have it then the stadium is rubbish for other sports.

Airport/NEC Villa, Airport/NEC Villa FC!  We're by far the greatest team - the World has ever seen!  And it's... Airport/NEC Villa...

knowing levy he'd have ensured that spurs have the exclusive for NFL being played in their stadium only anyway

There is a peaky blinders movie being filmed later this year. I guess it’ll be out some time in 2025 or 2026.

Just in time for the party at Bolton when Neil Warnock saves them from relegation to League two on the last day.

Mate.

A "mate" has shown me what the new "Small Heath Stadium" will look like when it is completed, they are confident of filling it every week:

They had the new stadium built around the time they got relegated. Couldn't really afford it so it got bought by the council? Or was it Isuzu/Ricoh? Then rented to them, to keep them running as a club. Then they couldn't afford it so they got kicked out and had to play at the sty and Northampton. Then London Wasps bought it? Or moved up to Coventry and used the stadium, then they went the same way? It's one big cluster ****. There's a casino, and big shopping park there as well. The theme park from the Dr would have been nothing short of an absolute disaster!!

As a kid watching matches on TV I always thought Highfield Road was a cool stadium full of character, it still wouldn't look out of date compared to some grounds in the top two tiers.

Wouldn't be surprised if we were in for Deeney at that time tbh and he'd have been exactly what we needed.

The tattoo thing is absolutely nonsense. I bet we didn't even get down to talk as he'd have been out of our budget (embarrassingly)
