I think we'll bag this, 3-1.

Not any particular magic going to happen, we simply take our chances a little bit better than Brighton.

It will be one of those workmanlike, relatively dull victories which, in hindsight, prove to be the foundation for our spectacular points tally come end of season.

If we now class a 3-1 victory as dull and workmanlike, we really are going places.

Saturday at 3pm, that makes a change. A home win would also make a nice change, following two consecutive home defeats against Leeds and Southampton, that cost us the only points that we have dropped this season. A win would maintain our top six place and it could possibly see us top of the league by 5 o'clock!

We went into the International break after a superb performance at Arsenal. Brighton had taken 6 points from a possible 24 before it. They are currently 3 points clear of the drop zone and are 9 points behind us, having played a game more than we have done. Our visitors have also never won at Villa Park and long may that continue to be the case. This could all perhaps suggest that Graham Potter, would need to be Harry Potter for his team to cause an upset on Saturday afternoon, but as we all know football results can be very difficult to predict and that has been particularly the case this season.

We won 2-1 at Villa Park when we met 11 months ago. We have won 7 and have drawn 3 of our 10 home league games against tomorrow's visitors. Overall, we have won 10 and have drawn 7 of the 20 league games, that have been played between the two clubs. Just win it for us Villa! :flag:

Its all on the day John, as you know.....If we work hard, we can win it, because the talent is there.....if we take our foot off the gas after Arsenal, we could be in trouble.

Whilst we’re at home I really hope we don’t try to outplay them and leave loads of gaps in the middle like against Leeds and Southampton. I say let them have the ball and then just hit them on the break.

Once they go behind we’ll be countering time after time.

i wouldnt mind seing hourihane get a run out.he seems to always bounce back and play well when dropped

I wouldn't be against a midfield of Nakamba-Hourihane-Barkley. Have SJM and Doug ready for hour mark.

Seems to be this idea floating around we'd lose any game 5-0 if we don't play our best team from start every single time but we finished up with 8 points from 4 games and won our first two this season with Hourihane starting all of those. Nakamba also played in some decent wins last year.

Our best team in last two home games has been 3 and 4-0 down at stages of games so it's not a banker win if we play them all from the start given recent evidence.

Would imagine this will be quite tight as most of Brighton's games tend to be and the two last year were aswell so important we have quality fresh legs to push us on for last third.

Don't see Trez being dropped given he played really well at Arsenal and we'll need his tracking back to stop Lamptey charging forward.

I have a real sense of dread about this game. It's just the type of game/situation that we always lose!

Coming in off a massive win to play a team down the bottom with returning players, who play an expansive game.

Not to mention our tiredness.

Really hope I'm wrong but this feels like a perfect storm!

Teenage me was “too dirty to clean my act up”. Very much enjoyed that video, on many occasions!

Me too, used to crank the hog to that one many a time. There was a golden age of music videos which were basically just porn for us teenagers.

In a way this is our biggest test so far. Are we going to be predictable Villa and let ourselves down . We can't just get up for the so called "big games ", it's important that we find some consistency and not let this great start peter out. These games are must wins if we are to make any sort of statement this season.

I want us to go out and dominate them . If we are on point, then I'm certain we'll come away with a decisive win. 3 - 0, Watkins, McGinn and Trez to score.

These are exactly the kind of comments I hate to see before our games, winnable or not.

That said, I hope you're right.

There's too much pessimism, WV.

We are doing so well at the moment. If we are not optimistic now, when will we be?

It costs nothing to be optimistic, and has absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the game.
