Aston Villa can confirm Kaine Kesler Hayden has been recalled from his loan spell at Huddersfield Town.

The full-back returns to Villa having made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Championship side.

He registered a goal and an assist while with the Terriers, scoring against Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Probably a good thing, especially after they signed Matt Lowton.

hopefully we can find him a better fit and he’ll recapture his form and promise.

I imagine if Smith takes the Cardiff job that’d be a good option

Huddersfield sent him back

Huddersfield Town exercise option to end loan agreement in January 2023

More on link - they thank him for his time but have senior players back now and don’t want to hold up his progress. Wonder if there was an implicit understanding between the clubs that if he was there he’d be playing

Huddersfield statement sounds fair enough, given their position they want to go with experience, so rather than keeping Kesler, they're sending him back to us for the good of his development, some clubs probably would have tried to keep him just for sake of having an extra player just in case of injuries, seems like they've done well by him, not just in that sense but also given him plenty of game time whilst he was there.

Good that he had an extend run in the team before leaving and was starting to get some positive feedback, should do his confidence some good, and will probably help him get another decent loan move if that's what we decide is best for him, would actually be surprised if he's not playing for a better team than Huddersfield in the second half of the season, either in Championship or as back-up with us, I think a loan back to Championship more likely.

He's nowhere near ready for Villa, as of right now he's barely even suited to the style we play with the RB staying deeper and the LB getting forward. Get him back out on loan again, hopefully find a suitable club.

Could quite happily play in an Emery team as a wide-midfielder tbf.
