His first team prospects are unlikely to be any better and his development will not be improved by spending time on one of those clubs benches, rather than on ours. These clubs see an opportunity to steal a player for next to nothing. If he comes good for them, then that is a win, as is selling him on for a profit in a couple of years. His bank balance and that of his agent, may increase in the short term, but Crowley shows that leaving us isn't always the wisest of choices. Now isn't the time to jump ship, we are a club that players want to join and making the opposite decision, would be a strange decision to make. foreveryoung
He wants to go. Think's he will get even less game time now Cout's has signed. Probably right, but I hope it's his advisers and not him who thinks he will be better elsewhere.

Let the lad play football and develop at Aston Villa with 18 months left on his contract. I’m confident when the time comes he will sign a new deal, the club have shown nothing but faith in him. Popular Post Awol
He’s just turned 18, is getting minutes for an upwardly mobile premier league team, and can learn his position properly from two true greats of the modern game in SG and PC. If that isn’t enough then Carney’s expectations need some management.
MWARLEY2
All the talent in the world means nothing if you aren't switched on tactically. Thats why Bellingham is the exception. Because he understands the game fully at 18. Carney is as talented as him but its no good playing a shit pass and then jogging back once the opponents break. Its why Jacob is flying. He gets the tactical side of the game . I said it the other day. Gerrard should get his cousin Bobby Duncan on the phone to Carney to tell him what he is risking
DevonIsAPlaceOnEarth
The name Rushian Hepburn-Murphy should be in mind during negotiations.

I suspect this will end with Villa paying him inflated wages on a new deal, which he hasn’t yet earned. RHP earned himself a £10k per week contract all those years ago despite never starting a league game. £10k probably worth £25-30k in todays market. Popular Post useless
I think there are a lot of unfair assumptions being made and people reading too much into the situation. As far as we know he hasn't actually done anything wrong, and there's not even anything to indicate that he has, so I'm not sure why he has to learn from former youth players that haven't made it, at least not in relation to contract situation. it's not as if he's scholar refusing to sign professional deal because he thinks he can get a better offer elsewhere, or that he's let his contract run down, his current deal doen't end until October of next year, there could be any number of perfectly justifiale reasons why he hasn't extended it beyond that yet. 5

Same will happen to Carney if he leaves Villa. Edited January 12, 2022 by messi11
samjp26
Won’t be surprised if he goes, won’t be surprised if he stays. That said, his brothers going up to Scotland for the next 6 months, maybe a “we’ll do the same to you Carney” move
tinker Posted January 13, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted January 13, 2022 If he stays there's no guarantee he will get to the required levels, if he's unsure about staying then that says enough for me , I would let him go after making a decent offer. Maybe Arsenal are sniffing around him after we stirred up the ESR contract negotiations with our bid
vreitti
I see absolutely no reason why we should bend over backwards for Carney. Seems a good prospect, but he hasn't really shown anything yet at senior level.
Mr_Dogg
Where's he going to go and actually play without taking a step down? The example of Bellingham is very rare.
