Tyrone Mings

Maybe they can play together but again Carlos is right in Ming's position. Feels more like Carlos OR Mings to me. But I could be wrong we have seen Ashley Yougn play every position but keeper this season so who knows? :)

Well he's " In Mings position " on the heat map, because he played in  " Mings position " at Sevilla.

Would be kind of weird if he was the right sided CB and spent all his time on the left. lol

Doesn't mean he CAN'T play on the right mate?

EDIT: Also appears he covers even more ground than Mings going off that.

Totally. Players can change positions but adding a change of position on top of a new club and a new league feels a bit of an ask.

It just seems more straightforward to me to assume he is just going to play where he is best and most comfortable. Ming's position.

We will find out though. As we have seen with Ollie & Ings impossible partnerships can become indispensable partnerships very quickly, just thought it was interesting,

It is not a change of position.

I think he plays on the left because Kounde is amazing and he plays on the right.

According to Google He is a right footed cb, who was played lcb at Seville. I think he should be ok slotting in on the other side of central defence.

To me, it would be easier to play on your natural foot/side, regardless.

So might be testament to how good of a player he might actually be

IMO of course.

Indeed. When he was being kicked by that french referee he was on the right-hand side so it may be that its just Seville that have him playing on the left.

I think we will see a much improved defensive performance next season simply because we bought Kamara.

Having no defined DM with passing ability has really put the defence under so much pressure this season.

Is that not on his out options with the ball. Konsa was never helping him this season and then when we had Nakamba or McGinn it was even more pointless.

Anytime Mings has the ball only one player consistently looks for it thats Luiz, the rest are hiding and even unmarked at times but its not on hence the hoof to Watkins

100% this

its crazy how a hoof ball is always put down to the defender not having good passing abilities when in reality its usually because he has absolutely **** all on

put a proper full of beans 6 in front of mings (which again, to me a proper 6 is all about movement, no tackling and being strong its about reading the game and being where you need to be both in possession and out of possession) and then judge him - in theory he now has everything around him in martinez, digne, kamara and carlos, now lets see what he does next season - and he was a great defender anyway

I don’t think CB heatmaps tell you a lot about where they can or can’t play… just means he was picked at LCB last season. Pretty sure playing at RCB won’t be rocket science for him

I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised to see Mings sold and possibly at a marginal profit.  I know he was brilliant for us in the championship, but I also don't think he's all that and a bag of chips in the premier league.  I could see him going.  People talk about his "leadership" but to me you have to be excellent at your own job before anything else.  He came into a very quiet team and played with inexperienced and quiet players around him when he first arrived - he's now going to be surrounded by better and more experienced players and isn't as influential as he once was (by default).  He's certainly not going to be (happy) on the bench and if we bring in another centre-back he'll be the first out the door imho.

We don’t know if this will be the case yet. I also think he’s earned the chance to play with better players

Mings with a quality and experienced defensive partner AND a proper DM in front of him is a different animal.  Plus it would be very silly to sell him at this point - especially when Carlos hasn't even kicked a ball for us and Konsa is injured.

Personally I think SG will line up with a back line of:  Digne - Mings - Carlos - Cash, when the season starts.

I though he might be sold if we signed Tarkowski, but that doesn't look like it's happening.  Would be a bit mad to sell our captain and first choice centre back before even seeing Carlos play.  Will probably see a lot of outgoings now but defense and DM are sorted I think.  Will probably sign an #8 and a striker, maybe a back up left back and that will be it.

Maybe on the sale price but we would make a very big accounting profit. We bought Mings 3 years ago and have already amortised a large portion of the fee, probably about 15m, so we would only have about 7m/8m left to pay for him. If we sold him for 30m that would be a 22m profit this year. Add that to 10m for Davis and our FFP position is looking a lot stronger. The better we make our FFP the more we can invest in players in future windows. Hopefully we will get a good top half finish this year and I would like to see us be in a position to buy an 80m+ striker next summer. The way to do that is to sell players that make profit for the club. It would also help Purslow and NSWE with future investment as they can see that we are capable of generating revenue too
