Wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter there either, they have Shawcross & Martins Indi. Can’t see the point in him moving, from his POV at least. We need him alongside a quality addition at CB. Most concerned about defence & GK this season and Bruce’s insistence on bloody 532!!

He's better than both.

Great he is staying, probably our most important player. If we can get a decent partner for him, if Elphick can't do it, then our defence is set and can be just as mean as last season. I sound like Bruce but if we can do that then there's no reason why we can't get play-offs at least as I believe we've got good options up front.

Why would he join Stoke though?

Stoke in the PL sure, it's a step up, but Stoke in the Championship seems unlikely. He's captain of Aston Villa Football Club. Why the **** would he join Stoke..

Im sure Stoke pay ridiculous wages

If he stays then great obviously. Mr consistency and I wish we'd got him years ago. Just wish we had a clue about what is happening behind the scenes regarding the comings and goings. We got ourselves geared up for sell everyone and now we're just dangling. It's the hope that kills ya!

Personal I'm prefer Ryan Shawcross over Chester but hard to pick which one Martins Indi, Chester better that Indi.
My option  about all three:

Man Mark: Shawcross > Chester > Indi
Tackle: Shawcross > Chester > Indi
Header: Shawcross > Chester > Indi
Speed: Indi > Chester > Shawcross
Strenght: Shawcross > Chester > Indi
Ball Ability Feet: Chester > Indi > Shawcross
Leadership> Shawcross > Chester > Indi
Position> Shawcross (&) Chester > Indi

I can see why Stoke want him, he is upgrade Indi (indi become good back up and option for sub in bench) and good partner with Shawcross, if they play 3 back line all 3 is very good balance trio, anyway about them.

if he stay i will much happy to see, and Chester + Elphick seem like good pair balance yet if we lose Chester we will more struggle to replace him, as only one proper and reliablity of Centre half is Elphick if Chester left us we will screw up if we don't replace him please don't get A.T. he is got great potenital play in Centre Half rather Right Back, but we need reliability Centre Half rather lack of experience.

hope Chester stay, and he is our captain of club might better chance of him stay.

Stoke may want him. I would also like us to sign Messi. The chances of either happening are not looking good. I have accepted it Stoke should now do the same. There are new sheriffs in town now who don't need their money!

Yep. Wages and a better chance to be in the Prem next season (via promotion).

Those would be the things going for him at Stoke.

BUT, I don't think it would be a huge swing. I imagine we pay Chester a fair whack anyway, and he could negotiate a new contract out of us because of this. The chance of promotion may be a factor, but he could probably get a move to a lower half prem club anyway if he was desperate to go to the Prem.

If we can afford to keep him, I think he'll stay.

Not for sale at any price too apparently. Fantastic news. Looking like we mean business again.

This is what serious money looks like, not words but actions. I am so happy he is staying.
