Dr_Pangloss
Undoubtedly struggling without a proper partner but that said, must do a lot better.
Herman22
Chester has come out today and backed SB. He's obviously been taking notes from the boss too. This is what he said: “I fully expect us to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.” https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-dressing-room-message-15165810
bobzy
Absolutely woeful. Probably set up most of Sheff Weds attacks. Car crash performance.

Farlz
Worst I've ever seen him in a Villa shirt today Edited September 22, 2018 by Farlz
Guest av1
Looks a shadow of the player of the season last year. He probably needs to be 'second fiddle' for want of a better description, doesn't look comfortable being the 'main man'.
meregreen
Always capable of a costly mistake in a game. Unfortunately had 2 today. Him and Jedinak, a partnership from hell.
BleedClaretAndBlue
Well below par this season unfortunately. Same with Jack. Maybe can regain some organisational confidence alongside someone who knows the role, like Collins if he is to sign a short term deal

Collins is not John Terry either. Collins has just as many rash moments as either of the current two.
BleedClaretAndBlue
True but I think one of the first steps needed, to give us a chance, will be to play players in their natural positions. Back to basics and all that. Because 9 games in and we look all over the shop.

Can be only one common issue here Terry carried him
Dr_Pangloss
Pathetic display and was badly exposed. What annoyed me the most is that he probably had the most touches on the ball out of everyone, he was seemingly expected to build the play from the back. Total shite.
VILLAMARV
Quote Aston Villa are ready to open talks with Wales international James Chester after agreeing a new £45,000-a-week deal with Jack Grealish. Villa will now step up negotiations with Chester over an improved contract as beleaguered manager Steve Bruce moves to keep the core of his squad together. Grealish has signed a five-year deal which will more than double his previous salary, as revealed by Telegraph Sport on Sunday. The 23 year-old was a serious summer target for Tottenham Hotspur but Villa's new owners, Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, held firm by insisting he was not for sale. Christian Purslow, the club's chief executive, said: “Securing the long-term future of Jack, a player we believe will play a pivotal role in leading Aston Villa back to where it belongs, is fantastic news for everybody associated with our football club.", "He is a tremendous talent who has been with us since he was a child and naturally we are delighted that he has now committed the next five years of his career to Aston Villa.” Chester, 29, is now next in line for fresh terms after interest from Championship rivals Stoke City in the summer. The former Hull City centre-half has just over 18 months left on his current deal. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/09/24/aston-villa-open-talks-james-chester-new-contract-jack-grealish/
StefanAVFC
Barely has a defence around him and a shaky GK. He looks spooked.
Guest av1
Just now, StefanAVFC said: Barely has a defence around him and a shaky GK. He looks spooked. Agreed. He hasn't been good this season but he was POTY last year, you don't turn to shit over night. I said earlier in the thread that he's probably at his best playing second fiddle to a more vocal, commanding partner. Doesn't look comfortable being the main man in a unit of sh#t. Terry was good, but got caught out plenty of times as his legs were not what they used to be. Chester hasn't got the leadership/organisation skills Terry had however, and definitely hasn't got the distribution from the back. Of course the defence is also about the unit, not just individuals, and from last season we've gone from a proper CB to a midfielder out of position and from a solid if unspectacular keeper to a nervous kid who doesn't look up to it. Add in a right back at left back and the constant chopping and changing of players infront of them and its no surprise it looks a mess.
markavfc40
Will we appeal his red card? It wasn't even a certain penalty for me so a red card was over the top.
