Have there ever been referendums in the US, or are they even possible?  The polling on issues like this and abortion seem for more clear-cut than you'd actually think judging from politics over there.

No idea, good question!

The only way that would happen is if the USA became a democracy, and that's unlikely to happen.

4 killed at a 16th birthday party in Alabama.

Didn't the 16 year old carry enough guns to protect themselves? That needs fixing man.

The militias need the AR-15 to be able to pick a fight with the US Army. It is in the constitution.

Yep, how are you expecting the general public to go and sort out the US army if they can't own the same guns?

Wonder if that extends to tanks and planes and stuff too? Can Elon Musk pop down Walmart and get himself a AR-15 and a F-35 raptor? You know, just in case washington step out of line

A young boy called Ralph Yarl had been shot as he knocked on the incorrect door to pick up his brothers. Bloody ridiculous

Just reading about that. Incredibly sad.

The guy should be locked up for life.

it's riduclous. he was in bed, heard the doorbell ring, and went downstairs holding his gun. why??

this is why us brits just don't get the US' tollerance and in many cases love for guns. this simply wouldn't happen here. we have knife crime, sure, but anyone ever answered the door holding a knife? then you add the race element to this where he just saw a black kid and shot.

sounds like the kid is back home now and the shooter is being charged which is good

I love (and am simultaneously infuriated by) their complete incomprehension of how to defend yourself without a gun.

"But what if somebody invades your home?"

"What if you get attacked on the street?"

"What if somebody tries to steal your car?"

As if these scenarios are USA exclusive or exacerbated by the fact the perpetrators, ya know... usually have guns, which they would be less likely to have if they banned them.
