Czechlad Posted July 30, 2015 Share Posted July 30, 2015 His striker rate for Blackburn is comparable to Benteke's for us, but Gestede plays in a lower division. He could turn into our Austin or Ings, but that is rare. Typically when strikers make the leap up, they tend to score fewer goals. Don't see the point in this signing when we have Adebayor coming in, Ayew just signed, Kozak doing very well in preseason, and Agbonlahor still being a statue. I'd definitely take him for £6million, though my god what is all this immobile striker talk. From preseason it seems Robinson's attitude has given us some clues and Sherwood will try to create chances the old fashioned way. Whether that'll be Robinson or other I can see us playing off a big man and creating secondary chances with a forward getting into the box to put in a cross. I suspect most clubs who agree to sell a player are usually happy with the amount they've agreed to receive. And even though most of us know sod all about the majority of what has come in, I think from what we've read both in terms of journalistic opinion and opposition (French) fan opinion, the likes of Amavi, Veretout & Gueye are far from average. We've spent too long having 1 or 2 good players surrounded by relative muck. We're now looking like a side that has quality throughout. Who's to say Gestede will even start if we end up with Adebayor & Ayew with Gabby. We could have just spent £6m on a 4th choice striker and that in itself is a far cry from the Villa of even last season.
