Remember that Mane hattrick in thirty seconds or whatever it was?

Truly shocking that Ron Vlaar could not outsprint Theo Walcott.

Looked like a flawless tactic on paper.

Pulled out of the running... He has supreme self confidence. Can't imagine there will ever be an opportunity that matches his ego.

Didn't he turn down the WBA job before he came to us? He's waiting for a PL job

Tactics was on TalkSport this week talking about his time at Villa.

Basically made out that in the season he joined, he spotted Benteke's goalscoring potential, and built the team around that, and that's how we survived.

Wasn't that exactly what Lambert had already been doing for 3 years?

Almost felt sad for him that he still has to trade off that half a season of keeping us in the PL and losing an FA Cup final. Still chucking in all the bollocks about being a proper football man who lives and breathes football as well.

Benteke was on poor form when he turned up given we'd scored about 1 goal in 9 games or the usual Lambert fare.

His biggest success was starting Grealish regularly in that run in.

He'd just come back from that Achilles injury though hadn't he, made sense he'd finish the season stronger?

He'd scored a brilliant goal v Man. United around xmas time so that would usually spark him off but we then went about 7 prem games without scoring a goal.

It was a dismal time so Sherwood at least got things going again and it was exciting but I think deep down we all knew it would fall apart as quickly and the last three games of that season were indication enough.

Needed an experienced manager that summer with all the players we lost and may have had half a chance.
