Popular Post JoshVilla
Wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought here might be the best place. I'm not really sure how/if we can come back from this result. It wasn't so much the 3 points, but more the psychological boost to show that we can actually beat a team in this league. Instead, we got beaten by and failed to score against one of the worst teams in the division. How does that affect the confidence of the players for the remainder of the season. We've chucked another winnable game away and, at this rate, we're going to end up needing to pick up points from City/United away. I've said it before and have seen many others say it. We have a decent squad, far better than (in my opinion) Hull, Burnley, Leicester, QPR, West Brom and Sunderland. But look at where we are. I've avoided simply pointing the finger at Lambert for a long time, but this is on him. He's the one picking the squads, choosing the tactics, and I'd imagine controls training. Even he must realise by now that he just doesn't cut it. Every week is the same. He's turned what should be a mid table squad into yet another relegation candidate. Somehow it's managed to get worse each year too. After the 12/13 season I thought it couldn't get any worse, but surely enough, last season somehow managed to surpass it. This season is just unspeakably bad, and it's unacceptable. It's not fair to serve this up to the fans for four years running and not even hint at any light at the end of the tunnel, apart from this supposed 'plan' that's obviously working out so well. With the way that the game is now, I don't think that relegation will do anything good for the club. The financial blow will be devastating. We will lose that little something special that we always had by being ever-presents, and it's no where near a given that we will come back up again. With the game being so controlled by money and the top flight seemingly isolated from the rest of the league by a brick wall made of pound-signs, it's difficult to re-establish a club as a solid Premier League team again once it's dropped out. As much as I hate the media drooling over Southampton, I really do admire what they've managed to do, being the rare exception. Teams like QPR are constantly hopping between divisions, never quite able to settle in the PL. It's a different game now, and I don't think Aston Villa will be the same for a good few years if we go down, especially under Lerners grip. A combination of the sorry state of football and seeing one of this country's great clubs struggle for so long has slowly chipped away my love for the game. It's not a sport any more. It's a plaything for the world's richest (in this division at least). I'd rather not care as much, but it's not as easy as that. At the moment, it's a feeling of sheer anger towards the incompetence of the people that run this club. It's been this way for too long, and shows no sign of improvement until this clueless manager and spineless, distant chairman are long gone. Unfortunately, this should have happened months ago, and I fear that it's a bit too late now. For the sake of the club and its extremely tolerant fans, I hope we stay up, but if we do, it cannot be celebrated as a victory for Lambert. It'll be a bloody miracle, and changes need to happen the minute after the final whistle blows at Villa Park on the last day.

Delphinho123
I'm lost for words. The man will take us down, yet he is untouchable. What do we do? Protest? Get behind the team? We're a laughing stock.
Djemba_Villan
Now we've pit the panic button. There is no option other than to get Vlaar and Benteke back in the team. Resort back to counter attacking and grind out some fortunate wins and lucky draws. Get through to the end of the season and hire a new manager.
TrinityRoadSteps
Nailed on relegation now IMO. And i'm not sure even a change of manager will do any good. The club is in free fall
dakid007
All thing left to do is get down vp support the team as this might be the last time we see premier league football for a long time.
ED
How depressing if this is the season we go down, that we do it like this. Not even a fun season to counteract the misery of relegation
Genie
If we stay up, I'll feel a bit bad for one of the teams that goes down. We've been dog shit all year and really deserve one of those spots.
kurtsimonw
2 years ago, at least we could see how we might win some games. Now, we look completely toothless in front of goal against the worst sides in the league. If we were creating chances and not scoring, at least you think with a few changes things could turn around. But our "chances" last night were efforts from outside the box and a header from the penalty spot, a routine save for the keeper, embarrassing.

useless
It wouldn't be, we'd lose all our half decent players and so would have to start all over again in terms of building a squad, this would set us back years. So even if we came straight back up we'd be in serious peril of going straight back down again.

Stevo985 Posted February 11, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 11, 2015 Having reflected on it, maybe relegation will be a blessing in disguise for the club. No I don't like this train of thought. If we went down and came straight back up then maybe it would do us some good. But it's far from a guarantee that that would happen. Relegation is potentially an absolute disaster. It's very dangerous and I want to avoid it at all costs

We are probably more likely to be sold in the Championship as they have relaxed the FFP rules so owners can invest more. I am sick and tired of the same old shite each season. Stevo985 Posted February 11, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted February 11, 2015 Have they? Aren't QPR facing a monumental fine if they get relegated because of FFP?
smetrov
How depressing if this is the season we go down, that we do it like this. Not even a fun season to counteract the misery of relegation Is there a good way to get relegated ? This is pretty similar to 1987.....I often wonder what would hace happened if GT hadn't taken up the challenge the following season. Theres big problems off the field IMO - there is just no direction from above - we can't even get an assistant manager in, the youth academy set up just churns out average joes, ....and thats just the bits we see....
