Woodytom
Reports on Talksport of £7m + Enrique and Lambert. I would be furious at this as it would value the man at about £12m in my opinion. I think it was Mick Quinn - so another scouser talking balls to try and benefit their club. Why don't we get a few Villa fans who appear in the media - Hendrie, Petrov, Dublin (he does talk us up), Taylor, etc - to start sounding off against the move and change the headlines a bit? They have Bozzie all the time. Micky Quinn talks absolute shite and for some reason (or at least or I always get the impression), he hates Villa. HeyAnty
Enrique and Lambert both out of contract at the end the season. I'd be surprised if they started more than 10 Prem + CL games between them last season. Enrique cost them 5m from Newcastle. 5m for the pair is over priced! It probably is but for arguments sake say it is 5 mill. They still need to cough up another 27mill
sexbelowsound
£7m plus Enrique and Lambert values Benteke at about £7.2m Pretty generous there on Enrique and Lambert. Benteke even being associated with those two through this deal devalues him even more.

Ex Coventry player, who buys into their imagined rivalry, and still bitter that we sent his other old club, Newcastle down. Oh and he's a fat word removed.

NeilS
£7m plus Enrique and Lambert values Benteke at about £7.2m Haha, Enrique has barely played for the last couple of seasons because he is always injured and Lambert is probably about 1-2 seasons from being finished in the top division. Enrique they bought for £7m in his prime and Lambert for £4m last summer and has managed 3 goals for them in 30 odd appearances. I am not sure how Liverpool/Talksport have come up with a valuation of £25.5m for the pair. Jokers!

Even at the £25m that liverpool supposedly want to pay for Benteke, that would value Lambert and Enrique at £18m combined. Absolute bullshit from Talksport as usual, I imagine. BOF Posted July 2, 2015 Moderator Share Posted July 2, 2015 That's why I don't like player part exchanges. Take Adebayor. On the open market he's probably worth we'll say £8m. But if Levy wants to use him in a part-exchange, he can chance his arm and say "well for the purposes of this deal we actually value him at £16m". Pay your money. If we want your exchange player we'll buy him with our new kitty.
Fight Like Lions
Don't want Rickie Lambert anywhere near our club and I trust that Sherwood would feel the same way.
rubberman
The list of crap they are rumoured to be throwing into a 'deal' is very revealing about the state of Liverpool's squad. I'd take Can, Coutinho, Henderson, maybe Sturridge but he's a bit of a sicknote. Not sure there's many others.
PieFacE Posted July 2, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted July 2, 2015 Seems Talksport are pretty desperate for Liverpool to sign Benteke.

Guest av1
I know exactly who you are, I know exactly what you want, Pay the £32m and we will forget this call ever happened. Pez1974
We don't always do too badly out of player exchanges. We swapped Baros for Carew (a straight swap I believe). And didn't we get Milner for a year when we flogged Nobby back to Newcastle - and he fell in love with the club. And with that, I await a list of swaps where we got robbed
VillaForever1970
I imagine that the deal is probably done, personal terms sorted weeks ago.Perhaps its waiting till we sign a replacement.

Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted July 2, 2015 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted July 2, 2015 What's good at the moment is that the standard Liverpool tactic of using the media to put pressure on is backfiring nicely. They'd really like for us (the Villa fanbase) to be getting very frustrated and just wanting to get the whole thing over with, they'd like us to be putting pressure on the club to get a deal done quickly. The ideal for them is Benteke booed at a pre-season friendly or for local radio to be filled with fans saying, "let him go...he doesn't want to be here....we need to take what we can get...we don't want this to last until the last day of the window" etc - it's not happening. The reason it's not happening is linked to what is for me the single most fascinating thing in English football - the insanity of Liverpool and their status - this is a club that is struggling incredibly with their downsizing over the last two decades, that bat shit crazy thing their fans do with media fatwas and cries that Jordan Henderson is the best player in the world, Sterling is worth £100m, or Benteke isn't good enough for them are linked to this utter refusal in their heads to accept that they aren't the biggest football club in the world. They're not. They're Tottenham with a (shrinking) global fanbase. And don't get me wrong, I sympathise, we've struggled with accepting our place in the modern Premier league, I hate it and I wish it were different - but we don't seem to have quite caught the insanity - and we understand things a bit better, we see more clearly, we've become used to losing our best players from time to time and we know that life goes on. Anyway, because of the insanity, they seem to believe that the likes of Lambert, who plays for Liverpool, the greatest football club in the world must be a world class player who'd be taking a massive step down to play for us - therefore whilst he might only be worth a million or so in Liverpool terms, to a club like us, so far beneath them, he'd be the best player we'd ever had, because I mean, he's capable of playing for Liverpool (the greatest club in the world) so he must be massively better than our players. The great thing about this is, that rather than getting frustrated with Benteke, we, the better adjusted Villa fans are patiently sitting here waiting for someone to find £32.5m and they, the badly adjusted Liverpool fanbase, are getting confused as to why their offers aren't being taken seriously or making Villa fans really, really angry. At the moment, they're expecting us to get more and more desperate, more and more tense - when in fact, it looks like we've pretty much stopped listening unless someone has the money, They're expecting fan pressure on the board, when actually the fans are tittering at their reported bids, they're expecting us to fold up and we really don't give two hoots. As long as we stay patient, it's those that are truly desperate that will show their desperation. Liverpool need this transfer, if they can't afford to buy a striker from us, it's one more thing that might force them into the completely unacceptable proposition of having to face up to not being a big club anymore. Get comfy, don't panic and enjoy their desperation.
sharkyvilla
Tbh I don't care where he goes as long as we get the full £32.5m. Anything less will be poor business, and random players being chucked in is a waste of time. That bid sounds like utter shite.
