I totally agree with your first 3 paragraphs but to be fair to Pardew he did have a decent Newcastle team at one point and this would have been later on rather than the first 10 games riding a new manager bounce.

Wasn't that more to do with decent recruitment that year? They bought over several players from France scouted by Graham Carr (Tiote, Cabaye et.al.) They gelled and had a really good season - of course their numpty owner sold them all though.

They also had really good strikers around that time...Demba Ba scored a shed load first half of the season, they sold him to Chelsea and then Papis Cisse did exactly the same.

God I hope they don’t manage to pull this off and stay up. It’s been peaceful recently with them doing shit, but if they stay up they’ll all been giving it large again. No doubt if they do they’ll have another dvd sale of “the great escape”

Nah they are down. Moore has done well but they signed their death warrant the moment they sacked Pulis.

Pulis would have kept them up IMO

I think he would have turned them around. He could't be any worse than Pardew!

What possessed them to seal their fate like that? Tony Pulis the safety specialist will relegate us, so let's appoint Alan Pardew who was sacked from his last 2 jobs for almost relegating teams. These people get paid millions to make decisions like this.

Their thinking was literally as advanced as 'well, he normally gets a new manager bounce, doesn't he'? :crylaugh:

Did you hear that Pardew blamed Gary Megson for stealing his new manager bounce? :crylaugh:

What an absolute plank. Mistook a very general rule of thumb, that's basically all reversion to the mean, and thought it was some kind of god-given right. Utter pillock.

If I ever walked past Alan Pardew in the street it'd require an enormous deal of self control to not chin him, probably the biggest word removed in football.

I think he is close to candleface but he still for me is followed by pardew
