TrentVilla Posted October 22, 2013 Moderator Share Posted October 22, 2013 I can't see anything that suggests he's better than Collins. I would imagine next summer he will be replaced with better to see us push on. Well he doesn't get pissed and cause problems for a start.
Morpheus
Previously i had slated Vlaar for not being strong enough in the air with crosses coming into our box and put forward that being one of the reasons why we kept conceding from set plays (what happened to that)? However against Spurs he dealt with the majority of crosses coming into our box comfortably and took responsibility for them which i liked. He has improved that aspect of his game and its a pity Okore picked up his injury because both centrebacks would now compensate for each other's weakness and we may not have conceded the second goal on Sunday. Its hard not to think we could be better with Okore I'm not down on Okore, I like him a lot. But I also like Clark now, and don't know which one would be better if Okore was fit. Which is a good thing, especially looking back at last year when none of our CB's were good. Also Vlaar is improved since last year, perhaps a result of better partners. There are definitely facets of his game where he is improving on last season, which is good to see. I think the biggest issue with Vlaar now is that at times his movement in defense is a bit static and he gets caught ballwatching. I think with a bit more awareness, he might have been able to better deal with Soldado for Spurs second goal.
BG_Villa_Fan
Miles away from an opposition striker who scores. Again. Edited October 26, 2013 by BG_Villa_Fan
Bunnski
Played really well in the first half. Marked Lukaku well and made some good challenges on him. Need to see the first goal again to see what was going on as I had my head in hands so didn't see the replays.
StefanAVFC
Thought he had a really good game. Couldn't see the ins and outs of the goals though.
samjp26
He looks more of a Dutch international defender than he did last season, although I didn't think he did all too bad for his first season the Prem anyway. I think he's playing well at the minute.
Jay.P.A
He had a very good game today. Made some good tackles, won a lot of aerial battles and was confident on the ball. Shame about the result.
VillaChris
He played well today. Was going to say best game for the club but want to see the 1st goal again as ridiculous the amount of space Lukaku had, basically a free shot from 18 yards. AVTuco Posted November 2, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Vlaar is still improving. He looks real steady back there. Worthy of captaincy at the moment. Edited November 2, 2013 by AVTuco

Mantis
Gets a lot of unfair stick IMO. By far our best CB.
Skruff
Very solid today. Never felt like West Ham would score today. A year ago I would be pissing my pants around the 80minute marker.
samjp26
So comfortable on the ball and it seems as if he is getting quicker and quicker in terms of both pace and thinking. By far our best defender.
