(However I'd bet he's not their manager by the opening day of 2020/21...)

Good luck getting anyone to take that bet...

Forest are a basket case of a club, they had 14 managers between 1889 and Cloughie turning up in 1975.

Since he left in 1993 they've had 39 men at the helm including caretakers....

Spoke to a lot of forest fans about this, and they all seem to think he's going to be brilliant.

Hadn't read this thread but I think I've responded with almost all the comments here, overspending,  footballing dinosaur, 1 way of playing(which I actually think they have the players for, Lolley in particular), just a man manager not a tactician, players out of position, another Stuart Pearce only not out of his depth just football has moved on .

I don't expect it to work out well long term for them, and have told them as much, but they all seem to have stuart Pearce syndrome, only thinking he's a brilliant proven appointment (regardless of proving nothing for 10years)

It reminds me of Bruce for us as well, Sunderland fans told us what to expect, but he was 'proven' so we mostly convinced ourselves it was a good appointment at the time. Yet in the end it was clear he had no tactics and couldn't handle managing a club with a big fanbase and expectations.

I heard they haven't finished the season with the same manager who started the season in about 7 years, maybe more. I think it was 2010/11 the last time they did.

Probably have to clarify that.

I'm surprised it's taken him this long to get the managers job at The City Ground tbh.

I think he could have had it any time he wanted it over the past couple of decades. This is probably the first time since taking the Leicester job that his stock is low enough he's not going to get a much better job, though.

Cannot understand this appointment. Forest were playing pass and move attacking football while O'Neill likes to play on the break.

Doomed to failure this which will be one less team Villa have to worry about.

There is a stat around that but couldn’t quite remember it but it’s something like that, I think Billy Davies first time around might be the last.

They’ve been there and done that with old Marlon.

They’be sold out for their next game so fans must be pleased.

For a club that has had 47 managers in its history, pretty incredible that 19 of them have been in the last 8 years approx.

What an awful awful list of managers.

Big man up top as well.... tonight MoN is going to party like it’s 1996...

Sounds about right, I was told in the manager thread that I was in no position to call him a 'dinosaur' because of my lack of experience in football. The man is positively prehistorical in his approach to the game, can't wait to see him fail.

Had I seen that I’d have been leaping to your defence, the guys a dinosaur just like the other usual suspects.

O'Neill's methods are unquestionable, even if they haven't worked in over a decade. Do not dare question the great and powerful O'Neill.

Seriously though, how powerful must your ego be to not question yourself at this point?

He is a stubborn pig headed rocket polisher. I hate him.
