DCJonah
His stats from that first half are disgusting. Although Westwood manages to do worse. Why oh why did Bruce think this partnership was going to work.

I actually think Westwood is ever so slightly better than Gardner. I didn't go today but his "performance" against Burton actually made me angry. If we could only get rid of one of them, it would be Gardner for me.

But if I had to keep one, it would be Gardner, purely because there's a 0.000001% chance he might get better. Westwood is done.

striker Posted January 2, 2017 Visiting Supporter Share Posted January 2, 2017 Cannot believe the powers that be at the Villa have given Gardner a new contract of any sort. Villa's goal is to be back in the Premier League so it doesn't make sense to give a player a new contract who clearly can't cut it consistently in the Championship. Utter madness. HanoiVillan
It made sense to give him a new contract, as long as the only aim was to get a fee for him. It didn't make sense to give him a four-year contract, and I'm sure Bruce is thinking this exact same thought this evening. The Fun Factory
Sherwood-esque intelligence in giving him a 4 year contract. At best a very average championship midfielder or decent league one player. He must have a photo of Bruce in a compromising situation to get this deal. Not good enough regardless if he is Villa fan. philgetaway
This guy is meant to be villa through and through. Doesn't show for the ball, doesn't break a sweat. Must hold the record for the amount of times he has been pulled at half time? Edited January 2, 2017 by philgetaway
PaulC
I wants him to succeed after all the bad injuries he has had but it doesn't look like it will be at villa now. Perhaps it would be best for both parties if he finds another club.

Eastie
Gardner hasn't been the same player since his bad injuries - whether it plays on his mind I don't know but he doesn't put himself about and shirks challenges in my view - don't think he will make it here . Bill Shankly put his arm around Ron Yeats to tell him the time was up.....Ron had given blood sweat and tears to the Liverpool cause and hundreds of games. Bill Said at the time its the hardest things he has ever had to do and the sadest. Football is damn ruthless and its them that deal with it....Win.
