You joined 30th May 2007 (a Wednesday) according to your profile :detect:

Later than I thought! I think maybe I lurked for a while before that before getting the courage to sign up

Yeah I think I lurked a while before joining.  Someone probably wrote something really dumb prompting me to sign up and give them a piece of my mind 🙂

Looking at my sign-up date, I must have been lurking for nearly two years before I joined. Apparently I joined in early 2014, but I know I was reading the site during Lambert's first season.

I joined 2009 and I swear you were resident before me. I am wrong but it seemed it.

Looking back on my profile my first post was to General Krulak making some suggestions about things I would like to see the club do.

I was definitely lurking for years before that though. I've always been of the opinion (much to the annoyance of my work colleagues) that if you ever get the ear of a top decision maker you should always make your opinions known, so that's why I finally took the plunge.

I think that in the early days I didn't post a great deal, only once a week or so, then it suddenly increases massively.

I know exactly why.  In the early days you had to be on a computer, switch it on and log in. Probably most of my early stuff is almost certainly written at work as well.

Then comes tablets and smartphones. Villatalk is now permanently on tap so posts increase exponentially.

I joined December 14, 2003  which i think was just after the relaunch of VT from a previous incarnation as a message board , or something  ?

oh how its changed  , back then , you could write an article for the front page , we had a button for viewing the webiste via AvantGo    a lovely ladies thread  ,mods who didn't delete threads by accident and  vegans were just Dem posting  about Star Trek   ....

seems a lifetime ago

I joined in 2005, having lurked for a while as well. Like @AVFC_Hitz, I more enjoy reading the rantings of others (gravy feud is definitely a new favourite)! I definitely spend majority of time in off topic than on topic, less circular anyway.

I also remember posts going onto the front page as @tonyh29 says. I remember that I did a massive rant as to why O’Leary was utterly useless (shooting fish in a barrel really) and it got placed on the front page. That was a proud day.

I was part of the official AVFC message boards.  It's weird to think the club actually ran a message board whereby most of the posts in it were saying how shit the club was

That got taken down around 2004/5 and I was in forum limbo until my brother found VT in 2005ish, I lurked for a year and joined in Nov 2006.

It was in that year I decided what this forum needed, essentially someone incredibly annoying, obnoxious, idiotic and random..

Look At Us Paul Rudd GIF

As is to be expected, my early posts are pretty embarrassing to read back on.  Not my funny stuff, but the one's where I'm actually trying to say something or hold an opinion.

I've received some pretty funny private messages over the years

I remember when the "like" function came to be, when the site essentially restarted and all the old threads got deleted.

For what it's worth I hated the SIFF World cup stuff, I thought that was shit. - sorry to whoever made it.

The Scuba Steve stuff was ok.

Baselayers did trick me.

The best stuff for me always comes from @useless.  Honestly, when he (you) left this site for 6-12 months, the quality of this site fell through the shitter - never leave again.

I find anyone who joined after myself to be a complete and utter noob and I hate you unconditionally.

The people who joined close to/or after the "like" function are at an unfair advantage, so again - **** you

Here's to another 15 years.

I can't wait to die and my kids stumble upon my account   That'll be funny.

That takes me back. The OS board was technically the biggest pile of shite I can imagine. I remember a week or two of massive lols when it was discovered that the software that the site was run on allowed you to post on other official club forums with the same permissions just by changing the URL. And the other sites' mods were powerless to do anything about it.

If you think it's embarrassing the Villa site had an official forum mostly talking about us being shit, Blues had one as well. And on the Birmingham City FC official forum, hosted on their official website, the word filter swapped out "Villa" for "vile", How **** ridiculous is that.

If women understand how little we grasp of their non clear communication at times. The amount of discussion and arguements you can have over something that wasn't clearly brought up is insane.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm just an idiot, or whether every single male has it like this.
