It's not that Grealish is slow but he isn't quick either. Both Rashford and Sancho would leave him for dead.

The point is Southgate want wingers or wide forwards with bursting, devastating speed on the counter.

In that regard he is competing with Sterling, Sancho, Rashford, Mount and even Greenwood who are all quicker than him and fits the system better.

If we get in some competent wingers and Jack goes back into the midfield and impresses there he might be considered as a midfielder in the future.

He has played far more games in the middle than out wide. It doesn't take a genius manager to try him out in the middle for a non event friendly international and see how good he is.

But not in the Premier League.

He did play as an 8 in some games last season but not been effective there.

In a poor side. For me clive he is a natural attacking midfielder who best position is in the middle.  He tore the championship up in that position. That  level  seems good enough for Phillips at Leeds to get in .  You would hope for England they would have a mite more possession in most games than what Villa had last season.

How effective would he have been if he'd been playing behind a front 3 of Sterling, Sancho and Kane though?

I see him as playing a fairly free attacking role where he drifts left. Imagine how much more space the wingers will get with opponents having to worry about Jack.

Grealish reminds me of a more Dynamic version of Riquelme . He's a prober a schemer, he can pass the ball with the correct weight on to your correct foot. You don't need to break stride. He has a super computer of a brain that knows who he is passing to and how they want the ball.

He would know sterling wants the ball slightly ahead of him on his curled away slightly from his right foot.

Jack is a genius footballer. He really is. Even when he's 'shit' he's still a 7/10 . He always has moments in games.

He's a modern day Gazza, a Riquelme, he's hard working and he tracks runs. He can play the Pirlo role. Sit in that box of space and dictate play. He can run late into the box and get on the end of things. He can devastate defences by going at them.

You're a coward Southgate. A weasel. Shame on you.

Grealish has been very effective from the centre. 1 spell in the PL there with a team very much finding its feet is no reason to abandon this

With a solid base behind him and players who know their craft ahead, with clever movement and pace, Grealish would tie everything together as a free roaming attacking nidfielder in the centre.

He's clever and aware enough to make it work and a nightmare to counter. That's how I see it anyway. I think Jack has similar ambitions. Lets get him those players to play with and watch him make that bollix Southgate eat his words.
