It only sounds expensive to those that haven't a **** clue and can't piece together why he will be so vital for us...

Sunderland fans don't care what price they paid for him. I think we were the same at the time. We were getting 6th every season, so there was no need to worry about our finances.

It will be interesting to see where Adam Johnson's career goes from here. I don't think I have ever known a player who has been made to look so good so often by the failure of others as him.

Sunderland have spent over £20m on Fletcher and Johnson. Don't get me wrong, they'd walk into our side, but the money paid is on the steep side, especially for Fletcher. They're probably on high wages too. Newcastle have proven that you don't necessarily need to spend massive fees to get in quality players. I really don't know why MON buys almost exclusively from one league.

I think Johnson's a really good signing actually, fully expected him to go to Spurs or Liverpool so think that's a coup for Sunderland.

Him, Fletcher, Sessengon, McClean and Larsson, more chance of scoring goals and their defence is fairly solid so think they'll be 8th or 9th this season.

Norwich has signed former Rosenborg midfielder Alexander Tettey (26) from Rennes.

Will be a decent signing. When former Tippeligaen (Norwegian League) players like Somen Tschoy and Paul Scharner can make a living in the Premier League, I am sure that Tettey also have a chance.

Not following football too closely these days, but did villa bid for man citys johnson? If not, then that is a mistake, he is a great player.

If we did then we certainly kept it quiet.

Johnson is the type of player the club should be trying to sign. He would add quality to the squad and he is gettable (I think I have invented a new word). I know Sunderland is where he started, but if he would go there then........

Also a partnership is formed between the two.. full statement here from Spurs site :

CLUB ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH REAL MADRID AND TRANSFER OF LUKA MODRIC

The Club can announce that it has signed a partnership agreement with Real Madrid FC and reached agreement for the transfer of Luka Modric, subject to medical, to the Spanish club.

The partnership agreement will see the two Clubs working together in respect of players, coaching, best practices and commercial relationships.

Real Madrid FC President, Florentino Perez Rodriguez, said, "The strong relationship and affinity between our two clubs has resulted in the cementing of a longer-term partnership and the successful transfer of Luka Modric. We are delighted to welcome Luka and look forward to working closely with Tottenham in the coming years."

Daniel Levy, Chairman, Tottenham Hotspur, commented, "Luka has been a terrific player for us and, whilst we preferred not to part with him, we are pleased that it is to Real Madrid, a club with which we now look forward to sharing a long and productive partnership."

Luka made 160 appearances for the Club, scoring 17 goals after joining from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2008.

We wish him well for the future.

Sinclair is a decent player, but I dont think he is quite good enough for a team that is looking to win the league or champions league. How many goals did he get for Swansea last season?

Furthermore I dont think he is better then Aguero, Balotelli, Dzeko or Tevez who now looks to be staying. So he will probably be 5th choice and only play in th league cup. Career suicide for him, but at least he will be sorted ££££ wise.
